I just decided to check back in after getting a notice that my local gaming store will be getting in the new rulebook tomorrow. I actually have a ton of minis from when the game was first came out many moons ago. I was in the original demo team, but real life got in the way. I took a break from gaming for a while, but now I'm ready to get my game face on and dust off my old Dragyri minis.
I can't wait to see what the game looks like now.

Heh, I also have a good few Dragyri rarin' to go :)
I'll be getting the rulebook this Saturday, w00t. But I still need some slaves to account for my hoard of Trueborn, so legal battles will have to wait.

Hey folks....
So the emoticons have changed.. :?:
Oh well it's all very cool so I ordered the new rule book today.. :)
Can't wait to see what new rules or changes there are...
*FYI I am an old member who had to re-invent my old profile, but hey change is good...

I'll add the cool smilies back in...as time permits. :D Not a priority item, but a cool-ness factor I also want.

I was pretty excited about the Rulebook coming out, despite running debate with a certain scribe about only featuring two factions. Good to see the wait finally over.
I wish you guys all the best with this and best see some Skaard rules up soon or I'm headed for your mums house with a baseball bat and a can of petrol :P

don't worry the other factions will be out soon enough.. genesis, as the name dictates is just the beginning.. you might want to put a seat belt on as the ride is going to be quick..

BROM will always bring back nostalgia for gaming in the 90s. Back then that guy had his hand in everything, CCGs, RPGs with TSR, etc. So when I heard about a game done with his art I couldn't contain myself. Now that Genesis is released, I'm finally gonna get into the game. So just to let you know (especially Pr0fane, who I may have told him I'd be starting DA a million times already on MiniRealms) I placed an order for the book and I'm awaiting its delivery.

We will be having Quickstart lists for all the factions in the very near future (maybe tomorrow?) as a holdover until the rulebooks for al of them come out. These lists will have basic rules for all models currently available. If you've done some amazing conversions for things in the old list that haven't been officially released yet, you will have to wait
An important note about these lists is that they are not final. The stats, points, and abilities may go through some further evolution before the final rules are released.
Hey punkrabbitt I found a campaign that you created: St John's Crusade...there is like seven parts to it... I read it, really cool game ideas :D

Ah, The Crusade of Saint John... the good old days before I joined the Developer team. There might be some copyright infringements in there, the Dark Age team is not liable for any of it, it was a fan effort at the time.
Come to think of it, I am updating it to go with the new Genesis rules and eliminate any potential lawsuits :)
Look for it sometime next year.

They had the book at my local game store today :D so I picked it up. My first impression is that the book is well written and packed with lots of fluff. The black & white artwork looks good and the army lists and rules seem to be laid out in a logical manner (Very important for any rules system, just look at warlord).
My only issues with the book are that the other factions don't get much page space and that there are a few typos  . Since this is the main book for the game I would have thought that placing a section where you talked about all of the factions would have been better from a sales standpoint. Running a demo it would have been nice to refer a perspective gamer to a section about the figures he/she most likes. I realize that the demo lists for the other factions will be out soon but just some of the information from the front web-page would have been good.

On the other hand if you have too much info on the various current armies in the rulebook you restrict your options for introducing new races/factions within races. Must admit I haven't got my rulebook yet but I'm looking forwards to it.

We are catching up with double forcebooks with the pace of about one every 3-4 months.
Exodus (Saint Mary/Skarrd Double forcebook) is the first to be scheduled for release in January 2006, followed by Saint John/Brood Double forcebook.
In the mean time, all units with miniatures released will be featured in our quickstart forcelists which will be uploaded shortly. We understand that with Genesis, much has changed.... these quickstart forcelists are there as placeholders to give you an opportunity to play with the models you have already purchased.... understand that with the exception of Forsaken Saint Mark and Dragyri Ice Caste, all other forces are still in the beta phase awaiting their final adjustments before being included in their respective books. We thank you for your patience and understanding in advance.
I think this is an interesting idea, so we'll see how it goes (^_ ^) Personally, for the sake of equitable treatment, I would have liked to see a Brood/Skaard book (as the first one had Forsaken/Dragyri), but that's just me.
DA has taken care of us all so far, so I have all faith in them \(^o ^)/

i think you missed out on a lot of talk about all this.. each faction will be realeased as in genesis as a army vs army format.. in the interim there will be lists posted up to use.. either way, which store did you find your book at.. ?

I'm guessing this is a case of practicality vs balance. The mini lines for Skarrd and St Mary are pretty much fully released. Brood, while playable, is the smallest range and still needs some fleshing out.

Gunslinger: I found the last copy they had at game parlor in chantilly. They did not yet have the new miniatures however so I figure that it got thrown in with thier weekly alliance order.
I understand all about the army book format. My point was that since this is the main rule book, a two page intro to all the factions in the first few pages would have been useful.

(^_ ^) I can appreciate that thinking.
I think most people like looking at everything availible and then dedicate to an army. DA's method is definitely a break from the norm! I hope that as it's revealed that more people really dig it.

I won't lie to you. We will add more units to the Brood, but, with that said, the 9 units in Brood right now are darn right nasty as they are. I have no problem what-so-ever taking on Mark or Ice force with Brood List as is... regen, acid blood, fast moving... what more do you want

I did notice that the Brood units seemed a bit more... full-bodied (?. ?) than previous faction lists! They certainly are packed with flavor! The new kids seem ready enough to take care of themselves (^_ ^). It'll be great to see how DA continues to push development.
Ah cool stuff.. :) Glad to hear that it will be incorporated into the "mother ship"... :D Will it go in as is or be updated :?:

The brood are quite nasty... and I'm hoping to see Howlers and Brood Hounds any day now... (in mini form, or else my doctor will increase medication  )

The worst part is that Canada Post doesn't work on weekends. It also doesn't help that my mailman doesn't deliver the day before a day off (weekend/holiday, etc.) And he BENDS the 'do not bend' stuff. I've had some mint edition game codexes/books decrease in value because of that guy.
