2006 looks like a new age for that classic RPG, RuneQuest, with Mongoose re-releasing the game.

Looks like the system will be changed..... how much so isn't confirmed yet, but hopefully it'll be a little less stat-heavy. They will also be producing it in an 'Open' format similar to the d20 system, where other people can write and publish stuff for the game system.

They will be producing additional items for the game later on including Glorantha material......

Something to keep an eye out for. Hopefully they'll do a good job for this worthy system :D

Anybody fancy doing Runequest: Dark Age???

Update:

Jul 2006

Broo Raiders (RuneQuest)
Glorantha (RuneQuest)
RuneQuest - Core Rulebook (RuneQuest)
RuneQuest Games Master's Screen (RuneQuest)

Looking forward to seeing this release, hopefully it'll be a good system. The old percentile system used to be a bit heavy, numbers-wise, but was a very good system, and Glorantha was one of the best campaign settings.

Not sure yet what the "Broo Raiders" product will be, probably a miniatures range or scenario.

I've been gaming for a while, but GW had me pretty much brainwashed for the early years. Mind explaining what exactly Runequest is?

Runequest is one of the 'Golden Oldie' RPGs. It has had a number of versions released, the latest was a free variant that bore little resemblance to the original. It is a fantasy RPG with some very interesting variations on character races, character creation and enemies.

Their main campaign setting was a place called 'Glorantha' and was one of the best developed settings around. The world was superbly detailed, the creatures 'unique', and the game system was good, if a little 'number-heavy'.

I've been playing it since the original came out.

Most memorable character???

My short-sword wielding, drag the enemy underwater then beat the poop out of them, serious complex about being called short, Duck named Marcellious.......

and yes, you read that correctly, a Duck PC :D

Mongoose have some pdf preview pages from the Runequest Rulebook.

Looks sweet and does have a little resemblence to the old system. Haven't read through the yet, just had a glance, but will read them tonight and probably get very excited!!!

Looks interesting might give it a go. I currently play D&D in a world that me and a friend wrote. I also play SWRPG. What is the Runequest system like? D20, D6?

A friend and I also are finishing a Inquisitor RPG we wrote from scratch, and I was thinking about starting a Dark Age RPG too. PM me and tell me what you think about it, or if you are willing to help down the line if I do start writing it.

I think awakenedragon was thinking about doing a Dark Age RPG.

Runequest used to be % based, and looks to be similar in the new version. Was very popular in its day. Hopefully the new version will re-establish it.

I'd have been more surprised if it wasn't a Duck. Everyone and their dog played a Duck.

LOL, most of my group avoided them like the plague.

Tiger Sons in the 2nd Ed tended to be very popular with my lot.
