Just an enquiry, because when the bonus comes in from work, I'm thinking of getting my first 'large-scale' resin/metal figure and try and paint it (bigger than our Dragyris I mean, and not including the Netherlords from Andy  ).

Has anyone here actually bought and painted up one of these big figures?

Looking at Andrea, Pegaso, Miniatures Alliance, Verlinden etc, there is a huge range....... they are a bit expensive, but may be worth it for a good display project (like the Howler might be, according to certain hints).

In particular, I just saw this on TMP:

Of course, the Asterix figures would be something worth getting, but I am more interested in the large Orc at the bottom "Orok, Skull Hunter".

Others I'm considering are:

This could work as some kind of nasty beasty in DA

Any of these coz they are sweeeeet!!!

So, anyone have experience with this scale? Any recommendations as to manufacturer and also reliable/cheap suppliers??

I'd imagine they'd be about the same difficulty to paint as say a model, which, I personally find it a lot easier to get a high quality paint job on a model then on a mini. Most of my modelling is with anime stuff so it's not like I'm just painting a tank or whatnot (although I do a fair bit of that too). Anyways, I'd give it a shot if you have the time, money, and desire, let us know how it goes.

most people assembling these kits -yes even the naughty ones, Scott!- use an airbrush to achieve a nice finish
Don't try your usual techniques, 'cos any mistake shows up immediately...

My mistakes show up immediately I point a camera at the things anyway, even on 1/300 stuff!!!!!

Why is it that paintjobs always look rougher and less smooth in a photo than in real life!!!

Anyhoo, still thinking about getting one of these big'uns........ don't have airbrush, but have 'Future'..... hyuk, hyuk
