He is only one unit. He can easily be run away from. If he does catch up, then he has no AP left to slaughter with. Giving him another AP would solve it but would make him overpowered once it got to toe-to-toe slugging it out, so I think he should have had increased MV. Just my thoughts.
I think that I will now be more inclined to take 2 death's devices rather than an ice elemental in the future. Of course I'd have to drop 2 spearslaves but Im sure that wouldnt be so bad... :)

It all depends on the tactical situation and the size of the game.

Most of the Forsaken move 16, Ice E can move 18. If they are running at shooting, he will catch up because that would put their movement down even less.
If he ends in BtB he get's a free AP for the charge and can use his two power 10 (+1 for charge) claws, with an AS of 6 +1 for the Charge
PS
Nothings ever wrong with two DD's

Hey if there was another DD sculpt, I would have three... but I draw the line at having two of any model. I am already annoyed at having to have two < insert any trueborn male dragyri warrior, for some reason there are multiple girlie poses  > which look exactly the same. I am hopeless at converting. It was ok when they were individuals but now that the rules state there has to be more than one of these types of unit, there should be alternative sculpts... bah!
Anyway, regarding the ice elemental, for its points cost its a bit high-risk to take, lacking in versatility and being only one model. I will try it again (this time with TWO! - again of the same sculpt, though at least these are still supposed to be individuals) but I dont hold out much hope for it. The only reason I'm taking these is because I dont want to take squads of dragyri trueborn who look like they fell out of the clone-o-matic.

Brian, I think you need to play several games before you can pass judgement on the Ice Elemental. I did hang back so it would come through the gap in the wall by itself, then charge it with 3 Sawblades, and I did get some good rolls. I think because of the way the turns work it went particularly well for me, but a lot of that was luck and I'm sure it will even out as we get more games in. I'm sure I'll be cursing that Ice Elemental by the end of this.

Why thank you for your opinion, Johanna. I was not aware that we were on first name terms anymore after last night
I know that you were being cowardly and hanging back so Mr. Icey came to pay his disrespects, thinking he could take the punishment enough to punish you for your sins... but sadly, honourable Mr. Icey had been out of the freezer too long and withered under the sawblade assault.
Did I mention that I hate having to take slaves? Well, actually I quite like the idea of spearslaves, but not the complexity of slave-choice that we currently have, and it seems that only a complex formula of slaved-up goodness will be in any way effective, and that spearslaves are just a good way of tying up your opponent for a turn or two. On a good day they might even hold them up for three turns, if there are enough of them, and your opponent is quite unlucky... If you could take a slave taskmaster with spearslaves that would fix them a bit. :?

We had drinks on ice in the swamp that night. It was very refreshing.
We would be obliged if you could send more Ice Elementals next weekend. *gets the ice saws ready*
