I saw the images of the pink Cryx over at the Warmachine forums, and I really thought they were funny.
All undead bubblegum-like (???)
They guy playing them, even had a pink fluffy hat and pink dice, and everyone thought they were really cool, except for one guy who thought it to be sad that someone that painted as well, would use his skills to make such a gay colourscheme, and I thought to myself:"what a dork, get a sense of humour man"... but now!!!
:D
On another note, I really think it is painted well, I have no idea how long you spend painting it to such a standard, but if that's your average mini, I reckon you'll end up with a really good looking army.
The armour plates and yellow protrusions look really cool. And you've got some striking blacklining too. Is it painted on a black base or are you doing the lines afterwards?
Oh.
And welcome to the swamps
If you need any advice, or would like to go all brood 'n nerdy... just say so, were here for you!

Welcome.
That's pretty striking all right.
It's kept its looks close up as well, most of my miniatures loose some of their appeal once their on that scale.
My first Brood was also the very first miniature I painted; a little pud.

I thought you had been playing other games before DarkAge, but I might be mistaken.
Unless you only played them, and never painted anything, or borrowed someone elses armies.
Just for curiositys sake. How many of your minies are finished*?
*Finished in this context means: ready to have their bases done 'cause you dont feel the need to do any more work on them.
I like the pink skintone. It gives the figure a cool burn scar or mutated look. Check out the Gallary link. I appreciated the Projekt X size comparison.

Not sure if that was aimed at me or not, if not sorry for being presumptuous!
No I hadn't played any games of this sort before I discovered Dark Age. I knew people who did but the hobby had never really appealed to me. Then I found Dark Age, loved the art and the fiction and thought,

WOW! Thats two years worth of painting for me!
I've got:
5 ratchets in varying stages of almost-done.
2 sawblades with slight details missing.
2 sawblades based white, with the cloth painted red, and no more.
2 Pud throwers, ALMOST done
1 grist (victim of evil coluring experiments)
Primed white: 2 Grist & 1 Pud Thrower.
I have a couple of days off next week, so I am really hoping to get a good five days worth of extensive painting done.
This ought to bring me up to about 900 points of finished critters.
I'm always having serious problems deciding on what colours my minies ought to have, and I spend the first few weeks tweaking and changing all of my initial plans.
The face masks of the brood are a real pain ATM. The first pudthower i painted has a mask that blends from orange to red from top to bottom, and it looks cool, but it doesn't fit in with the look for the rest of the model, so I might have to paint over this nice blendwork to turn it into some rusted mask instead, but there isn't a lot of metal on the PT either so that might look weird too, and painting it bone is just wrong with those spikes on it.
The problem's the same for the Sawblades and ratchets as well, but I am thinking of making everything on the ratchets either bone coloured or their skin color, but then again...
I have a really retarded learning curve when it comes to painting and modelling, but from time to time I manage to surprise myself.

Nice looking mini Asbestos. I have a friend who got biten by the pink bug as well, so it doesn't irk me too much. You did a great job on the carapace texture, just a bit uneven yet very chitin-esque.
As for my force I just ordered some stuff from my LGS. Should be getting the St. Mark box and the Skarrd Father box. I don't like the sculpt of the SE Saint Mark as much as the first sculpt though, so I may just buy the original later. Still toying with color scheme ideas, probably lots of earthy tones on the equipment with very pale flesh.

Stunke you're not the only one who struggles with picking colour schemes. I'm forever overhauling my plans, especially when I realise that I don't have the talent for what I saw in my head.
I semi-reluctantly decided that the Brood must have some access to metal for the face masks and the saw-blade's shields, as well as the tanks for the Grists, but I've tried to keep them as organic as possible beyond that.
As for the ratchets, I'm slowly coming to terms with them. I've found a colour scheme I like but their still half done so I'm still not sure how its going to end up.

That's taken me since august last year. Part of the reason is I can't just sit still and not be doing something, ergo lots of painting. Plus the whisper was painted for me by Sharae, who also shared the work on the warhead and the soul searcher.

LeadAsbestos: Pink! Interesting... Not how I see the brood myself, but he certainly stands out and would definately scare me if he charged my way :)
I keep seeing Yovanka painted with pinks and pastels, it annoys me so much! You don't get as kick ass as her by being girly.
Mags: Show the Soul Searcher and the Warhead... I don't know about the Whisper... She was the first mini I've ever painted and it shows! To me at least :P

Are you telling me that you can tell the difference from your first to your third mini?
That's one heck'uvva learning curve!!!

With such an unusual medium as miniatures, I can see a learning curve like that. It takes a few tries to work out how things work in miniature 3D, not to mention with acrylics on metal.

Hehehehe I can say for certain that the first 30 minies I did, didn't improve the least.

Glad to see this had produced so much discussion!
It really is a bit more purple in reality. Black primered, and built up through a few colors. I think the effect will be better seen on a good sized force. (I hope!)
I had just finished painting up a gang of banditos for Old West games, and if I saw another variation on earth tones, I was gonna pull my eyes out!

Heheheh I can imagine how it feels, although I NEVER get tired of green and brown!
I've played Nurgle, Orcs for fantasy battles and 40K, had a green tyranid force, a green and white skaven army, and am currently up painting up a spinach-green (with a hint of bold red) brood force. I'm even starting up warmachine planning on playing some green diseased version of Menoth!
I've really got a problem with green... an obsession some might say.
Oh, and I'm having serious difficulties reading your posts. All I can think of while trying to decipher your words are: BOING, BOING, BOING, BOING, BOING, BOING, BOING, BOING

I've really got a problem with green... an obsession some might say. Don't worry, me too. I tend to mix red in as well. God knows how, but I've yet to produce a Christmas scheme. I guess dark red intestines sagging out of a bloated armored belly don't quite do it  .

:wink:I have to second that notion. I like it, but at the same time I want to hit it with a hammer.
