FYI: Found two bugs in the program.

Link updated, above, to direct link to the new file (no more rotten pop-ups).

Fixed: Ice Caste Focus Cost calclations (Air was okay).
Fixed: Forsaken Squad replace logic (Banes were giving me fits).

Ahhh, sugar!

My FTP Program was set for ASCII (for work related reasons).

Re-up'ed with Binary. Appears to DL fine now.

Sorry for the confusion.

Link, above, updated.

v2.0 - Revised for Exodus
Costs Updated.
Psychogenetics added.
St. Mary List Link Fixed.

Again, this version is absolute bear-bones. Nothing except costs, availabilties, and squad sizes. Just a quick way to do the math.

Woot was looking for one. No one has made the Exodus conversions for AB yet so this is great. Well it's great either way, because the sheet works awesome.

I never got caught by the army builder thing, but thanks for the effort!

Work on Exodus is in-progress. I have St. Mary completed and about half of the Skarrd units entered. I hope to be done in the next week or two.

Being the guy creating the ABv3 DA files I am a bit biased. That said, aren't you in kind of the same boat regardless of whether the files are in AB or Excel, in that you need the software in order to use the file? I will grant you that Excel is more versatile and the potential for someone to have a copy is greater (e.g., I got mine via a great deal that MS has with my employer).

And just to be clear, I am glad to see someone step up and provide a tool for those that cannot or are not willing purchase AB.

I'm not sure how well OpenOffice handles macros, but it can at the very least open Excel files and it's free :)

Don't count on too much functionality, m0nk3yb0y. I've got Open Office myself and have had a whole bundle of problems with macros and the like.

You could try downloading an Excel viewer from Microsoft's site, however. That might let you do stuff.

Hey this is a coool Excel tool...but I am an Army-Builder fan. It actually is a great program that you can use for many many games. I am eagerly awaiting Darkhosts release, and give him a big THANK YOU for working so diligently on it.

Thanks for the props. I have five units left to enter. Then I just have to define the limitation rules. It is really a matter of making time in between work and home remodeling projects to enter the information.

Actually, there are no Macros in this document, its all simple Cell formulas. This should be backward compatable to just about any version of excell, lotus, and (I would expect) anything else designed to open office xls docs.

Also, Excell has a free internet explorer plug in. Probably for other browsers too. IE is free, plugin Free, builder free.

---

Not to detract from Army Builder. I loved the program, I just didn't upgrade quickly enough. Now, I can't justify the cost of upgrading it, when I can get or make builders enough to do what I want to do (quick adjustments of squad sizes to try and fit different things in lists).

My (ancient) version of Open Office has never given me trouble with anything but I

How it works:

1) there are a series of Tabs at the bottom. One for each forcelist. Click one to start building.
2) Only the white spaces are editable, everything else calculates.
3) First, enter the "Point Scale" in the top left. (This establishes how many "1 squad per 1,000 points" things you can add)
4) Second, Click in the "Unit Name" column. A drop down should appear with all the Units. Select the Unit you want.
5) Tab over to the "Qty" column and enter the number of units in this squad (Note: you do have to make individuals a "1" here)
6) In the case of Skarrd or Dragyri if the Unit has Focui/Psychogenetics there will also be a series of drops downs to the Right you can select the desires ability from.

Repeat stesp 4-6, are required.

7) The "Squad Name" column is purely for reference. If I have two idential Squads I like to name them for sanity (For example, two units of Spear Slaves might be named "Left" and "Right").

Assuming that you can run it, it is a sweet little application, and I can see how it fills the niche for a tool to quickly build army lists.

However, what it does not do is provide you with a nice print out of your army. For me, that is the real value that AB provides. Have you given any thought to the feasibility of incorporating that type of feature?

That said, if DA ever produces set of usable unit cards (i.e., like those in the original miniature packs, or even as PDFs that the user could have printed out on card stock) then that point would be moot.

Mmmmph. That I'd grabbed a copy of this and hosted it already. Will do so tonight.

Galyn; whenever you update this doc, please email me a copy and I'll host it on the Dark Age server.
