"Cousin, Blaylock is in the plaza at this time."
"What is he doing?"The first thoughts of Heraclius were that the Quaestor was meeting a infomant.
"He's sitting at a table drinking wine with his men..." Rutger had a confused look on his face.
"What? Something is not right here; Blaylock did not travel here to enjoy Nicea's fruits. No, he's wanting to see who is aware of his arrival here and I for one will let him know that I am indeed aware."
"Cousin, there is one more detail which you should know; the runner said that the Warwind not with them." Rutger quickly averted his eyes.
"Hum...missing is he. Rutger go to the plaza with a full ambassador party and deliver this inventation to Questor Blaylock; ensure that he understands that many of Nicea's finest will be dinning here tonight. I know he enjoys such pompous attention."
"I'll see to it immediately. What about the Warwind?"
"We will focus on Blaylock. I am sure all will come to the surface in one way or another."
"Oh cousin there is something else which you need to know. The look-outs have reported that another large scouting party was seen near the southern farms."
"This could be a stroke of luck... I will address this matter to Blaylock with a choice few for an audience. He will have acknowledge the danger."

"Hello my dearest." A smile filled Casandra's face.
"Hello to you. I thought I might still find you here."
"But of course, the sun has not yet set. Though I do have some affairs to attend to tonight my dearest."
"Hum, yes well that is why I am here. A special man is in Nicea tonight... I need to get close to him."
"Such talk will make me jealous. You are of course refering to Questor Blaylock. My cousin has 'planned' a little banquet for tonight. The Questor will certainly be invited. Knowing Heraclius the event will be grand, even for such short notice."
"I really must accompany you tonight."
"Not like that! No my dearest if you arrive with me, there will be no leather armor, or pistols just your beauty and elegance. Tonight, all will know you as Sahra. Do you understand?" Casandra's gaze was unwavering.
"I just need you to cause a distraction; I'll need only moments."
"Heraclius, suspects that I have very able agents. He has added to his security. He is taking no chances these days. I will not risk this."
"My sister, I have been loyal and steadfast. I have reasons known only to me for this request. I will not jeapordize your position, but when I decide to act a man will be dead."
"You demonstrated your loyalty at Kiev. All that I ask is that you leave nothing for heraclius to track this back to me. he has always shown respect and devotion, but devotion also has a stern face."
"For you I will be this Sahra. None shall see my other face. I will keep your trust, but know that I will have my pound of flesh."
"Then all is agreed. Tonight we will enjoy wine and celebrate like true daughters of the vine. Now come, we have much to attend too."
The sun was beginning to set. The city was preparing to sleep; many were in their homes finishing meals or saying their night's prayers. Tonight some would be dancing and feasting under the stars. Tonight, there would be those who would be sitting in the shadows drinking Nicea's finest while talking in hushed voices with only the scarest of moonlight to shed light on their designs.
