View Full Version : Converting a Taskmaster

Okay, so I have this spearslave with an unsalvagable spear. I was attempting to completely replace the spearshaft with a steel rod and the wrist gaveway. I attempted to pin the hand back to the wrist and accidently drilled offcenter and ruined the piece (MAN! I hate that!)

So, he is becomming my taskmaster, at least until an official one comes out (BTW: What is the 'official' stance on conversions?)

Some parts still need lots of work. But, here are some pics:

here you see it beside the original sculpt.
1) I tried to fatten him up, as seen in the art. But, he just came out a bit wider. I am no master of Greenstuff, so I decided it was good enough. I doubt I could add more and make the ridges come back out.

2) I added an extra ripple to the hood. This came out GREAT. I love the change, really makes them look menicing, instead of bug-like. I was really tempted to just do this on all of them. Its easy:
. . . I just placed a piece of dental floss on em with superglue. Came out perfect. I also have a small loop of jewelry wire at the bottom of the added piece (originalty I was going to recreate the hanging do-dads in the artwork, but this just looked soo much better).

3) Created a new right arm from a Slingslave.

4) Cat of Nine Tails made from Copper Wire (this was ground wire from an outdoor light we installed). I thought just one looked great, but the artwork seems to show two.

It still needs some cleanup work, and I need to extend the handle on the left side a bit more, but you guys get the idea.

Any thoughts? Constructive Critisims? Don't worry, I'm thick skinned.

That looks really good. The motion of the whips is captured well.

Sweet. Nice conversion work. I would suggest to put him on an elevated base so he sticks out from the rest of the Slaves. ;)

He's finished.

Noticed in the pic, some flock on his foot (taking pics always shows me all the stuff I mess up).

Not thrilled with the cat-o-nine-tails' handles. Or the right arm. Considering it was this or make him a casualty on some base, I'm not terribly upset. . . I only have to field him until the real on comes out, then I foresee a casualty conversion in his future. . .

@EDIT: Helps to post the right pic.

Very nice finished product!!

You are being overly critical on yourself! Definately a fieldable piece in anyones army!

That is a clever bit of converting. As mentioned, the motion of the whips came out really well and adds lots of movement to the pose. Also, kudos for not having to burn a damaged model. :D

Looks fine to me. I wouldn't worry so much about any minor flaws. Chances are, your opponent will never notice. I certainly don't.

the official stance of converting is, convert.. if you can convert it, it is usable.. whoooot

A very well executed conversion. I love the thick corded whips and the extra details. An excellent illustration of the darker side of being a Dragyri.

Looking forward to seeing more.

Cheers,

Osiris

Thanks guys.

This was (obviously) a fairly easy conversion. The whips are the only crucial part. [Again, found mine when we installed a new light outside, saw this coil of copper ground wire.] I'm sure you could find the stuff at any hardware store, but scavaging it is so much more rewarding. ;)

And, every Dragyri force gets lots more dangerous with one of these little guys. Never leave the mines without one.

All right! A fellow scavenger! That just makes it all the better for me. :D

It was funny...I was actually looking for the "offical" taskmaster mini (didn't know it was not yet available) and came across this conversion. This looks AWESOME!

Great work man! Great work indeed!
