So I get all my arrangements for GenCon sorted out, and then it occurs to me . . . Hmm mabye I should paint some minis to use at the con or something

So I decide to beef up my Skarrd force ( currently Demo sized ), and finish off my Brood Demo force. That's twenty models . . . GenCon is 30 days away. I usually finish about 1 model every 4 months ( not quite as slow as Pr0fane, but close  ) . . . ooh boy!

So I'm going to use the forum here as a motivational tool and make regular reports on my progress. Feedback, encouragment and cajoling are welcome.

Here's my target list I the order I intend to work on them:

6 x Bolas
6 x Buzzblades
1 x Toxic Mistress
1 Abomination
1 Pud Thrower
1 Murtos
2 X Ratchets
Repaint Chitin
Repair and repaint Gazelle

No doubt in my mind. I know if you set your mind to this goal, you will achieve it.

Good to see you've set your repaints as bottom priority.

Feel free to share WIP photos with us. As long as it doesn't take too much of your brush-time.

Consider yourself cajoled.

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to Gencon, still waiting to hear back from 'quinne on some stuff. I decided that I needed to start painting some DA stuff, even if I don't end up going. Anywho, I finished my Saint Mark the other day and am currently working on 3 Banes. I would like to get enough stuff for Forsaken, Skarrd, and Dragyri to field a decent force. Hell, I'll even let you guys decide what you think should be painted out of my collection.

Forsaken:
6 Banes
2 Bane Leaders
1 Bane Grenader
8 Coils
4 Ravages
2 Reavers
4 Strikes
Sister of Compassion
Weapon Smith
Warwind

Dragyri:

11 Old School Spear Slaves
6 Old School Sling Slaves
Ice Elemental

Skarrd:

Chitin
2 Harpies
Abomination
Grafter
Raze
Golab
6 Buzzblades
6 Charity's Might Buzzblades
2 Toxic Mistriss
Bone Doc
Father
Sister of Charity

@ Pyrrhus: I don't know if you can make it in time, but you'll never know if you don't try. Get Painting!

@ Monkey: Do the generic troops first because they're the staple units. Work on the rest later.

Good luck. The only thing I think will be tricky are those ratchets. Been trying to paint mine for almost a year now. Tell you what, if you can paint all that in a month I

if Pyrrhus manages to do this it will blame me for not being able to paint my stuff in considerable time .. ugh

If it wasn't for cons I doubt I would get anything done! I still need to paint up Hoodoo but other than that I am done with the Skarrd until the new models come out. Must have new models!

Same here, only its one Bola instead of Hoodoo.

One of the ratchets is now painted, and the other is about 1/3 done. I know, by the way, that painting 2 miniatures doesn

Hell, If I can build all the Damn terrain you guys need for GenCon, you can atleast get your minis painted to play on it!

(Just kidding. I never have time to paint minis due to the time spent building terrain. Might have to work out a trade with one of you guys some day. You paint some of my minis and I build you some terrain. But not know, I am all terrasined out for a while.)

I think of it as painting idocy.

When I'm painting, I am really not enjoying myself, I just try to get stuff DONE, and as I'm currently looking at my entire Cryx army for Warmachine I'm thinking: should I go and repaint the entire lot?

[Gritted teeth, sloppy paint job, aching neck, red rimmed eyes, semi-bald flocking on the base, nervous looking at the clock to check up on how much time I am spending per mini.]

*Looks at minies*

I wonder if I should repaint the lot of them, I feel weird having already painted them all!

Okay, after a brief pause for birthday goodness (see the Mayhem forum for some of the sordid details). I got back to the brushes. All six Bolas and the toxic mistress have their colours blocked in now.

Normally I would begin shading at this point, but it occurred to me that this might be a good time to try that "Dip" method that everyone always talks about. Could somebody be so kind as to link me to the tutorial that was posted here many moons ago?

Another Question: I've looked high and low for Future floor wax - can't find it. I have found umteen different brands of "acryllic floor polish". Is this the same stuff?

I don't get it, are you going to lock yourself in a room and have someone slip food under the door? I found a great way to paint. Fill your mouth with different colors of paint, then tickle your nose, make sure when you sneeze that you are facing your minis. No matter how much time I spend, my minis look like that anyway

lol

sounds like a European problem, but I found a German equivalent ....

Pyrrhus, this won't help with the figs for Gen Con but I only used some of my Future and can bring the rest with me if you remind me.

Thanks ( brevity loves company )

@ Rue : yeah I'm not sure why this technique works but, but I'm assured it does. And with time running out, locking me in a room might be the only way I'm going to get these guys finished

@ Kyle: No worries - if any old generic will do then I'm all good.
