hey guys,
I know its been a while since ive been on here, waay too long. I had life come up and kick the crap out of me. bad gf breakup, i got sick, various other complaints and woahs
Anyhoo, there is some more grim news. this will obviouslly apply to the bay area players (vax, wayne, me, maveric etc etc)
PPG, or paradox playgrounds. was an upcoming store with great potential. it hada huge crowd of people, huge amounts of space, and a huge audiance for all types of games. Sadly i got word today that PPG is closing down. often times, as silly as it sounds, game stores become second homes for people, and i know i felt that way at ppg. jamie, zack, skylyn and i had great times there. Like these last few times i tried to sell scott my useless cockatiel.
PPG is sadly no more, so for all the bay area darkage people, we got a few options. Ray at DnJ hobbies is in love with the game, and Ray at gamekastle is to. where do you prefer, as if we decide either, im going to be pushing that store to pick people up after the loss of PPG
thanks folks,
Shane

Sorry to hear about your string of bad luck, Shane. But it looks like you have the right attitude; pick yourself, dust yourself off and carry on. Good job, man! Now, go convert those Rays to the Dark Age cause!

My condolences for any bad luck you had, sometimes life can be pretty nasty. I know for a fact you've got Trueborn blood in you, and low and behold you're back on the forums :D .
As for Paradox:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! (http://darthno.ytmnd.com/)

That's really too bad, I liked them a lot. It's true they had somewhat of a limited selection of games and supplies though, perhaps that lead to their decline. Can't make money off just letting people use your space. That and having a compeditor a few miles down the street.
As for a new store, I'd prefer Game Kastle mostly because I know where it is and go there often enough. I'll be leaving for college in about a month though, so I'll leave it in your hands.
P.S.: I'd love to have a game sometime soon, but classes have kept me busy recently, and I soon may be getting a job to devour the rest of my time. You guys feel free to game without me, I know everyone's been itching for a game. When I find out what the tattered remains of my schedule are, I'll get in touch.

Oh No!! Im sooo sorry to hear that! Melly and Jaimie are such great gals...I wanted to see their store succeed. Unfortunately it was one of the most distant for me though.
I know what you mean by certain stores being like home. I was one of the Scenario regulars in Fremont. Chuck fought the city for years, but in the end eminent domain won out and shut him down. It was a stunning loss for the east bay area for one of the most well-known stores to dissappear. I still feel sad for the loss of that community. PPG is another loss.
I think the best choice for gaming in the south bay now would be Game Kastle. They have playing space and a great store dedicated to gaming. D&J is not a gaming store, but a general hobby shop, and does not support gamers with game tables and playing area. GK is a better investment for local gamers to support.
Im pretty sure our Innercircle painting club will shift the bi-monthly meeting in the southbay to GK. Next month it is at EndgameOakland, so I'll bring it up to the group.

hey folks
skylyn and i did some work and some research. dnj is out, not space, not anytime soon either
Game castle is our ticket. tommorrow i'll probably go down there and talk to ray about it. i can get some events running, maybe draw in the ppg crowd as they are going to need a place to game.
I will try my hardest to pick up what was left off. I'm surely sorry to announce that i wont have time to playtest anymore, not of a lack of faith, but i just dont have the time. ill continue to demo
@vax and wayne: please contact me via some source and we will discuss everything we can do. will and skylyn are in for game kastle
@profane: thanks for the support man!
as for why ppg closed, i dont want to discuss it openly, but skylyn and i are pretty much sure it is the reason they went so fast. its not money as far as im concerned.
thanks guys,
Shane

update:
in typical ppg fashion, the girls are never down and out! Jamie is going to be starting up a gaming club, where the girls can just be members, instead of managers, for all of us to meet instead of drift away. i feel its a good ending. their world builders (terrain building) group is still going to be around, so you very well might see some dark age terrain from us soon : )
@wayne and vax: ill give you guys more info as i find out. im still going to shift most of my time to game castle, i.e. the other weekends im not at the ppg game club (hell we might just be meeting at game kastle). either way, ray said hed love to have us there, and hed love to have some events, so if any of you want to do a dark age something, hes down for it.
