It's once again time to have Exodus Road Hobbies host another painting challenge, the second of hopefully four painting contests for the year. With the recent rash of miniatures, the release of a movie, and even its own national day of recognition, we figured what better theme than that of PIRATES!

The contest will run from July 15th through Sep. 19th (National Talk like a Pirate Day). At the close of the contest, voting will commence for one week. Voting isanonymous and you may leave comments and critiques, which we have found our previous entrants have greatly enjoyed. After the voting, announcements will be made and prizes sent to the winners.

Based on our theme, your miniature must be of piratey flair or faction. We have come up with several sub categories to better match your entry with like entries for fair judgement.

The categories for the contest are:

Salty Dog - Human and humanoid pirates of the male persuasion.
Saucy Wenches - female pirates of course.
Shiver me timbers - For all things sci fi and big stompies. Yes there are such things as space pirates.
Bilge Rats - monster pirates, exotic sea creatures, and big ugly shiphands.
16 men on a dead man's chest - We are going to have a special category related to diaromas. Multiple models involved. Special rules apply.

The specific rules for the contest can be found here: ERH Pirates painting contest RULES (http://forum.exodus-road.com/viewtopic.php?t=583). I would really like to stress folks to read the rules, as some may be missed or misunderstood and lead to disqualification.

We have been very fortunate with a number of sponsors, including Dark Age Games, that have chosen to provide supplemental prizes for this contest. We encourage everyone to let them know your appreciation! The contest sponsors are, in no particular order:

We are looking forward to a great contest as they seem to be getting bigger and better with each passing.

we are up to 14 prize sponsors and still going strong. Including the guys that came up with the whole concept of having a National Talk like a Pirate Day.

And convert him a big-a$$ cutlass instead of the halberd!

Hmm, I just recently finished my Skarre (WM cryx warcaster for those who don't know), maybe I should put her in the contest?
I did my first tournament last month, so this can be my first painting competition.

(Gotta slap some paint on murtros soon too.)

With all this sparetime, it's hard to get all the things done you'd really like to do

I knew someone who thought keelhauling was just getting thrown off the back of the boat. Which really doesn

Well, keelhauling someone from a dinghy is still preferable to being lugged of a man o war if ya ask me, everything's relative you know(as are my stupid comments)

keelhauling ... front to back and side to side most never survived to the midships let alone a full trip up and back..

So do the Big names like Jennifer and Marike get to apply?

All who sail are allowed to enter...

But, never be ware, since tis the size o the treasure we be bringing, tis plenty to go round...

Tis true that thos with the mighty fine plumes will most likely see their share of the booty, there will also be special considerations and votings for scalleywags and more to boot.

Prizes for creativity and lucky charms.

So dont worry your hearts over the seas ahead, instead raise anchor and full speed ahead....

Well, ladies and gentlemen, the sponsors have started sending in their prize packages...

And so far we are up to over 100 miniatuers and $200 worth of gift certificates. And we have not even received from all of them yet.

This is shaping up to be a GREAT contest for those that participate.

This guarantees plenty of prizes for the winners, as well as several prizes by random draw in each category.

But, there are only 2 weeks left, so you better hurry if you want to get in on the winning free stuff.

Send submissions to: [email protected]

I have entered a rapidly done contribution, and apparently stand a chance to win something since there are not too many entries in my category, hehehe...
Anyway, it is a very nice event, so come on fellow DA fans, since Dark Age is a proud sponsor, surf the seas and place your votes !

OK, so I didn't convert any DA minis into Pirates, but I still managed to actually win the diorama category "16 Men on a Dead Man's Chest" !

Thanks Jason for organizing this very nice contest !
