I've got a question a friend reccomended a Forsaken warband to me - Dedlock, Weaponsmith, Orchid, Nathaniel and a pair of Fire storms. Aside from the obvious that this is going to be a shooty as all hell band I was wondering what everyone else thought about it in terms of playability.
And why is it that Dark Ages has all the best looking minis?
cheers,

To be honest, your biggest problem with this warband will be numbers.
Ganging-up can be a real killer, anyone can be brought down when surrounded even by 'weak' models.
Also you should be aware that Firestorms have a very nasty habit of blowing themselves (and anyone near them) to pieces.
And why is it that Dark Ages has all the best looking minis?
LOL
DA has superb models, but I wouldn't say it has all the best looking models.............

We do have all the best sculptors though.
If Klocke, Buddle or White ever did anything that wasn't good, they made it for Privateer Press :D
Juuuuuuust kidding.

Most of the warband will have some real trouble once the enemy closes. The Firestorms are good for a quite burn, but in CC they're toast. Deadlock and a Weaponsmith will have similar troubles, though Deadlock can often hold her own untill something with decent AS engages her, then she's Deadmeat.
Nathaniel and Orchid have less than spectacular shooting and are actually more monstrous in CC, but they are far from immortal and big stuff will still cut them to pieces if it gets the jump. Still, I have witnessed firsthand the obliterating power of these two in combat, and the shear number of bonusses they get when working in tandem or when one dies and the other goes Berserk can cause some serious pain. These are your beatsticks, use them for counter charges.
Like Shinobi said, numbers will be your biggest problem. Also, the relatively weak PW of most of the weapons is going to make something like Raze sheer hell to deal with. You might actually considder switching out the Firestorms for Coils, those deathdisks are awesome for armor piercing and have far better range. The Weaponsmith can take care of hordes of stuff like slaves.

Dropping N&O would be a good idea.
Banes are always a safe choice for sturdy HTH troops.
Other options could include Strikes, Clergy Ann, Flense, or if you want a St John flavoured force, maybe even Haniels or a unit of ********......... *ahem*

That'd be great:
"Darn those Forsaken, they're always after me lucky-charms, tee-hee."
Though if the brood have a breakfast-mascot beastie I'm hoping for the "Dig-Em" frog. Talk about putting "Smacks" down.

Yup. Grafter using Sota's slaves took out my Abomination. Admittedly we are talking Zulu Dawn numbers here, but they did it!

Who cares how many it took, it's a viable tactic, and they nailed the SoB. The end justifies the means.
I mean, we don't hand out style points here, we kill stuff untill it dies from it ;)
And the morale is: Bring more Grists!

You did what with slaves to kill who? Ouch, not only is it a feasible tactis its a downright scary one? Whats the old saying "sooemtimes the peasants of to fight back to let the king know they are down there"
Come to think of it I would love to see a couple of full slave armies out there.

Punkrabbitt's about the only one I know of that could possibly field an all-slave army. Painted, that is.
