Another Colonel Marbles Miniature Review (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDVEIaHCpgQ), but Dark Age is pretty low on the list. I'm starting to suspect the senility of this guy because he says the spirit lord LOOKS LIKE A GIANT ORC! What makes it more suspect is the crap that gets the higher spots...

Well, with the skin-tone it kinda looks orc-ish.
Wait a sec... Totemic Gun Pig and Bang Bang get more screen-time than the Spirit Lord .. WTF?
Crazy gorram Brits!
EDIT: And one last thing .. "why didn't anyone think of Zombie Pygmies before?" Well, they did .. in The Mummy Returns. Dumass.

He's doing a review on something that he knows pretty much nothing about though. Saying that it looks like a giant orc shows that he knows nothing of the dark age world, therefore doesn't really have much of a place reviewing it. Much of the minis that he places so high on his list (except the zombie pigmys, those were pretty cool) are based on real things so they're a ton easier to sculpt than stuff like dark age.

Except the part where he calls it an orc :P Don't want people getting the wrong idea about the game.

To be perfectly honest, I haven't taken Col. Marbles rankings seriously ever since he put the Infinity Ko Dali in his number one slot and called it his 'ideal miniature.' For those who didn't see the picture, it has one of the worst face sculpts I've ever laid eyes on.
On the other hand I'm still glad the review's there, it's a great way to find out about new releases and different mini lines. I just won't be taking his ranking into account, especially after he gave Rackham's Aberation Prime, easily the most impressive and detailed plastic kit ever to be produced, such a low rank.

Like most things...there is always a little "Fan-boy" involved. If the guy doesn't like the fictional look of the model, he is probably going to rate it low. What can you do?
But I agree...the Spirit Lord does not look like an orc...at least no orc I have ever seen before!

well he has his favorites and we have ours.. best thing is to do a spin up like his and put da at the top.. make a point, counter point to his idiocy and set him straight .. call it the doctors doctor (fail those doctors that have a disease)

I always thought the Dragyri looked more like a cross between Wolfen and Skaven. Of course we always need something to compare things with. probably why everything tastes like chicken

The Colonel's at it again (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz-k_Yo76fc) - this time the new Golab and Charity's Might have made it into his Top Ten Countdown. He gave it a much better rating than the Spirit Lord, but only just.

Huh, makes sense to me. First of all what do you really think a Dragyri looks like, thing is its kinda orcish (in the face). Aside from that the Col. was questioning why nobody did Zombie pygmie miniatures. MJB toys rock anyway, I mean, thats personal opinion and I know the Col. is a big fan. Frankly the list is based on what he likes. Dont like it then create your own list. Personally I love MJB (although not the gun pig). Ko Dali by the way is actually a pretty good face sculpt- its suppossed to be a sculpt of an asian person and not just the generic white/black sulpts you get.

Dragyri remind me of E.T. after he pumps up on roids gets a set of nuts and replaces Reices Peices cravings for an almost religious fighting experience oh and don't forget, makes Drew his slave. I also think Colonial marbles review is useless, when I hear the comments he dumps on some of these pieces I just figure he got some promo stuff mailed to him.

Hey, to each his own... it's his party, and he seems to like old school stuff, we are ranked no lower than most of the Rackham stuff...

Nah, he doesnt get any promo. He gets payed to mention two stores but thats it.
Yeah, he does like old school stuff but then so do I. If you wander over to Frothers you'll see where the comments come from.

There's no anti-DA bent. In the third review, Sabre and Excess came in at the #2 spot. Lighten up guys. It's HIS personal preference. Just because he likes different figures than you doesn't make him an idiot. And painted green, the spirit lord would look very much like an orc IMO. So what? The colonel is reviewing the figure, not the fluff.

Orks are always cool. Name me a single instance in the history of the world when Orks have been less than cool? Exactly.
Mind you I know absolutely nothing about GW rules wise but I

Walking mushrooms? That really sucks.
I mean it would be cool to have a mushroom army (with smurf slaves) but not the orks.

Yeah, thats what I thought when GW changed in 3rd edition. I mean, mushrooms? Who the hell came up with that.... :x

Its possible that the Fungus fluff appeared with Gorkamorka.

Actually that is probably true. Thats when the Orks design ethos changed so radically and from whence we get their scrap Ork look. Pity as the game is quite good.

They're not mushrooms, they're fungus they spread like and grow the first stages of their lives as such.
Actually, I think it's one of the best ways to describe how orks are all over the known universe.

Really? Personally I find the idea of Orks growing fromfungi rather, umm, far fetched....

And you didn't notice anyting else farfetched? ;)

Yeah but it sounds far-fetched in a silly rather than a cool way. There

It's not just the Orks that grow from mushrooms, it's the ones in Warhammer too. I've been watching the video diaries for Warhammer Online and they keep going on about it. That's why there are no female Orcs, too ;)
Is it really any worse than how the Uruk-Hai came about in Lord of the Rings - that was just downright odd.

Uruk-Hai stands for earth born I think (I got curious, I am NOT fluent in Tolkien), so it sorta makes sense.
