View Full Version : Objectives?

Will Dark Age add objectives rules to their fights as a regular part of the game?

The current rules (just fight until you kill all of the other side) are fun and fine to learn the game but it seems to give a rather nice advantage to shooting armies. Without objectives there are no reason for a shooting army to stand ground and let themselves be over run by a melee army. Not to mention lack of objectives gives a melee leader little in the way of options... they can charge ahead and be shot up for 2 or more turns (praying they they have enough troops left to fight in melee combat) or hide and avoid any fighting for a long time. Without an objective the game just stalls if the melee army doesn't charge ahead and if they do, they have problems living to reach C.A. ... but with objectives, maybe a melee person can win the game by holding back and forcing the shooting army to advance into an ambush or other wild and wacky options.

I don't suppose it would be enough if I simply said "yes", hmm?

Well, it will have to be for now.

All I can tell you is that we have something in development that will fully address this issue.

Well, to be totally accurate and yet still remain vague, we should say "some things".

I'm curious if this has something to do with the things Grafter was talking to me about at Gencon.

You and Grafter sure had a bit of a chat at genCon huh?
were you eavesdropping on his phone calls or did you get him drunk and extorted all info on future releases out of him?

Not really, we had a meet the developer session, and I talked about up coming products a bit...

For those who are going to SoCal, make sure you make it to that event, you might find out what is on the horizon.

If you have access to the original DA online pdf rulebook there are a few good scenarios in there- not to mention the fantastic terrain generator.

Really gives some flavor to the planet....

but maybe these ATTR references are heresey now......

Heresy does not exist among atheists! ;)

The rules themselves hold no real interest but the scenarios are cool.
I've compiled most of the scenarios from Dark Age(beta) and made a campaign out of it, but no one seems to respond whenever I post it, so I don't know if it's useless or not.

I can't tell you where you'd find a version of the old DA rules though, because I don't know.
