ok you have been duely notified! Eight months, don't forget to place this on your calendar, drop out of school, tell the boss to shove it for this one because this will be the biggest startoff for next years convention season and we mean to end it with a HUGE BANG!!! If you miss this tournament you either can't afford to fly/drive out (I'm sorry) or don't love Dark Age enough!!! We are giving you no excuse to miss this event!!!

April 20-23 is the GTS here in Vegas, one of the gamers here in LV has contacted the Conquest group to run a gaming convention in conjunction with the GTS starting on April 18 through the 20th. What does this mean? Well for starters you GTS attendees do not have to leave the hotel, that's right Conquest Vegas is being held at Bally's and we are going to throw down on the Strip Dark Age style for our first Annual Player Appreciation Tournament!!!!! The tournament itself will be free, but you will have to pay to get into the Con, but ooh boy what we have in store for you guys!!!!!

- Fun, competetive never before seen tournament scenarios.
- More SWAG you can handle, well not really, but a lot. Hint the more people who show up the more generous we get.
- Door Prizes just for playing.
- Awards given out for various categories to include but not limited to Overall, Sportsman, Appearance.
- Most importantly be the first people to receive, for a nominal fee, an exclusive 2008 Convention LE figure. This LE mini will be available for sale at any major conventions we attend. BELIEVE ME YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS OUT ON THIS FIG!!!

Oh and like I said we are planning on ending the convention season with a BANG! at GenCon Indy, other companies may give you 15minutes of fame, we will Immortalize you!!!

RSVP me by PM'ing me the following information:

Events attending

Don't have a DA forum account? (for shame!) email me at [email protected] the above info.

How to get to Conquest:

Conquest is located in Bally's on Las Vegas Blvd, if you are coming from the airport just hop in a taxi and ask them to take you to Bally's. If you're driving in Bally's is on the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Flamingo ave. The easiest way to get to the hotel parking is to get off of I-15 and head East on on Flamingo, stay in your right lane and cross over Las Vegas Blvd, you'll be making a right into the entrance of Bally's follow the signs to self parking, don't worry Paris and Bally's share the same Parking Garage. Once you're parked follow the signs to Bally's Casino, can't miss them. Once you are in Bally's head towards The Convention Center, the tournaments are held in the Skyview Conference Rooms 2&3 (where the Dealer Room is located)

Admission to the Con for one day is $25 two days is $45.

There is no charge for either tournaments and on the first day we plan to give out swag to the particpants of the tournament. We will be taking pre-orders for Johann from the people who show up. We are working on some surprises for those who attend.

If you have any problems with directions or concerns contact me at (702)523-5916

Can we stick this thread so that it does not get lost over the next 8 months?

Jamie
09-29-2007, 04:13 PM
Are the scenarios going to use the objective markers like xtreme did?

Does the Appearance award include points for these objective markers and or movement trays? Or just the paint job itself?

I tried to do the math and no matter how I looked at it that is only 6 1/2 months away. :D

bj
09-29-2007, 05:12 PM
yeah should've put 7 instead of 8

Objective Markers will still be used, but the scenarios will differ slightly from the X'treme Scenarios. Nice looking objectives will help sway the judges:

Painted army without custom objective markers
Painted army with custom objective markers

both painted well and pretty much equal, the tie would go to the army with the extra effort

Life permitting GMI has 7 people who are going (including me of course). :D

bj
09-30-2007, 05:23 PM
As we get closer I will make a RSVP announcement. This will give us an idea of how much swag to give out, door prizes, etc.

Jamie
09-30-2007, 06:11 PM
Are we still using 3 Objective Markers or should I be thinking about adding more?

(I know I ask alot of questions but I am really excited about this event)

"Strip Dark Age style" sounds awfully disturbing, BJ.

Please elaborate - is this a multi-day tourney? Several tournies? One?

More information is welcome for those of us sitting on the fence. Las Vegas is a plane ride, and you need an awfully exciting tourney for just a plane ride, sir.

More info please...what is GTS, where can I get more info on it?

I'm going to try to time a trip to visit relatives in Vegas for that weekend so I can come play. (Wife's relatives, that is)

One other comment...people have 8 months to paint their armies. How about saying painted minis ARE required? It would be very frustrating to make a big trip for a cool tournament and end up playing against 3 shiny metal armies.

GTS is the "GAMA Trade Show".
(GAMA is the GAme Manufacturers Association)

Its the Professional Trade Show tied to Origins.

Not a public admittance show, its geared toward Manufacturers, Distributors, and Retailers.

bj
10-01-2007, 09:59 PM
the PAT will be one day, starting around 10am and depending on the number of people who RSVP can be up to around 5 rounds of 1.5 hr each. Conquest Vegas is being run in conjunction with the GTS, which is yes a Distributor/Retailer show only (there are ways around that, but you didn't hear that from me)

For more info on GTS goto www.gama.org

I'm hoping to make it out there. Might be a good time to actually meet all the synical faces here on the boards. Don't worry, I didn't hear you anyways...

I'm planning on attending GTS anyhows with the store, maybe I can convince Mike he goes to GTS that day and I go game... 8)

If it were up to me I would make it Painted Only, but I think there's a way to award those who do show up with painted vs unpainted. Thanks you for the feedback guys. Spread the word, there's no excuse for anyone that lives in a 200 mile radius not to hop in a car and show up. With GTS in town it would be easy to go in with a few friends to cut down the cost of a room.

I am sure me and Maverickman will be there. We are going to be at GTS anyway and this is just an excuse to spend a couple more days in Vegas. :)

I'm not actually touching that line of commentary, if you know what I mean.

I'd just like to hear the schedule of things - a 5-round, one day tourney? Two different tournies, like at Gen Con?

I know we're talking about something 7 months out, but the more flesh you can put on the bones, the more appetizing the meal is going to sound.

Tenatively One day Tournament, five rounds, starts 10am we get done around 8pm, an hour break for lunch of course. If the masses would prefer a two day that can be worked out as well.

10-03-2007, 10:27 PM
Ooh, two days of tournies, a different one each day (Saturday & Sunday), so that those of us who have to work Saturday morning could drive up after work and participate in the Group activities Saturday night and play in a tournament on Sunday???

That would definitely have my vote!!

bj
10-03-2007, 10:36 PM
nope more like a two day tournament.

BTW please post no regrets, they can be contagious sometimes.

Oh and like I said we are planning on ending the convention season with a BANG! at GenCon Indy, other companies may give you 15minutes of fame, we will Immortalize you!!!

Ok now, a trip to Indiana is expensive (and along way off fortunetly for the finances) is this talking about what it sounds like it is talking about. Are you thinking about putting the winners face on an up coming model!!

The chance to field Father Jamie rates pretty high up on my list of James Bond Whoo Hoo Factor products to buy.

Please tease this one needs some esplaining!

bj
11-12-2007, 04:24 PM
Okay, been a while for an update on this but here's some more info....

Working on getting space for Sunday to hold a second tournament.
Each attendee will will receive a free T-Shirt, plus they will be available for sale as well, we will have gamer sizes!
The free swag will be tailored to the type of faction you want.
With those last two blurbs we will require RSVP's (Shirt size and faction desire)
The LE in question is NOT Lilith, BUT she will be available for purchase, in limited #'s, as well.
Starting soon I will drum up a contest that all can participate in to guess the identity of the LE.

And on the Indy X'Treme: Immortal Event you are not far from the mark Jamie, the official announcement with all the fanfare will be at GAMA

Jamie
11-12-2007, 04:43 PM
Oh the pain of the teasing!! :)

I have been receiving alot of questions about the scenarios that you are planning for this event. Over all is the concern that not having any idea of what these scenarios will be makes determining army composition very difficult.

I know you are thinking we should bring a well rounded cast of troops but thought I would ask about the scenarios because that was the top question I was getting.

Is there any information that you can give that will not ruin any surprises you have in store?

bj
11-12-2007, 04:57 PM
Bring a well rounded force, the scenarios will be objective based but different from the X'treme scenarios. Ultimately the scenarios will be incorporated into the X'treme scenarios, we just want to give you guys some pleasant surprises. When we get closer we can make them available, they will be generic scenarios that can be used by any force, if I get my way the scenario cards will be a gift to the particpants too.

bj
11-29-2007, 02:08 AM
Ok I need to start a I'm for soure going to make it head count. We need this to help secure space at the can. Also if you are in need of a room we need numbers so that we may secure reduced rate rooms at Bally's. Please remember post no regrets. If you are 50/50 sure of making it please let me know.

The five round tournament will start at 9am on sat and we will have a 750 X'treme tournament on Sunday as well. It will start early as well. The mystery LE is coming along just fine and soon I will start dropping hints and clues as to it's idenity.

no need to reply in this thread just PM me, thanks!

Well coming in from Riverside:

Saturday & Sunday
Jamie + 3

Saturday Night & Sunday
Robyn

Who else is coming?

Jamie, I know you have actual names for the +3 (or was it +5).

So BJ, is the latest word that we are having two events? One Saturday and one Sunday or are we having one single event over 2 days??

This looks like a blast!

I will be talking it up more and get a head count at GMI over the next two weeks!

Robyn

bj
01-07-2008, 02:56 AM
Sat and Sun are two different events so far it's looking we will have around 12+ people!!! The more the merrier!!! BTW This is Conquest's first foray into miniture gaming events, typically Conquest events are CCG inclined, if we pull off a couple of great days Conquest Vegas will be a staple for the convention season and can only grow from there!

bj

I should be making it as well. One question, is there a fee to play and does that fee (if there is one) include registration for the day at the Con?

bj

You have to pay to get in the con, but there is no fee to play in either of the Dark Age tournaments.

bj

Soooo.... you are saying I am going to lose then? That part of the scenarios I seem to have mastered. :)

bj

Well if you count losing as being a deficit, anyone who plays Dark Age is a winner in my book!!!

bj
03-20-2008, 02:21 AM
There may be a time change for the events. There has been some juggling, we still have space secured 100% for 24 players (please PM if you are going to attend) but the event organizer asked me to ask you if a 10am start time would be better? If so we can change the time, if not they can get security. We will be next to the vendor's area.

Let me know, thanks!

bj
03-20-2008, 02:24 AM
the reason why the scenarios aren't 100% is because I have a little creative block going on, currently I'm trying to dislodge it with Porter.....

Good thing I was sitting down when I read that! 200 points is an enormous investment in a 750 point game. I will hold off judgment till I see why he is so expensive but the excitement bubble just deflated a little.

bj
04-11-2008, 08:45 PM
Unfortunately we need to announce that Johann will be delayed, we are having production problems and we and don't expect him to be delayed for a very long time. We will still run Conquest but Johann will not be there. At Conquest we will take down the info of those who still wish to purchase Johann and as soon as Johann becomes ready they will be made available to those who attended Conquest for purchase. The Rules for Johann and his Followers will be forthcoming this Monday(April 14th), if you can make a suitable sub for the tournament on Sunday (April 19th) you may still use it in lieu of Johann not being available.

Be assured we will be diligent on getting Johann out to the attendees of Conquest as soon as possible and for the future conventions we plan on supporting. Thank you for your patience in this matter and we apologize for any inconvience this may cause.

Question on the new Father: Is he just a TAD smaller than the original sculpt?

It is just a conversion of the old one, the legs are a little longer, the katana is now a katana, not a cutlass and there is a torso twist.

How will the new father be available? And any idea when?

Curwen or the Tribal Father? At any rate both were there at Conquest for a limited time only. The new Tribal Father will replace the old one for the Skarrd Boxed set. He will be available at conventions for single sale for those who don't want to buy another boxed set. Curwen is slated for a June release.

When will the new father start to show up in the boxed set ? If I order one from the online store will it come with the new or the old?

Thanks for the info, all the new skarrd look great!

We had 3 players ready and willing to play at Sunday's tournament, so BJ stepped up to make it an even 4 players. We went round robin to get everyone with game on!

I brought a St Mary's list and my opponents brought 2 Skarrd lists and 1 Dragyri!

I faced off the first round against Skarrd.

My list was:

St Mary
2 Clergy Anns
2 Banes
2 Firestorms
1 Weaponsmith
1 Sister of Compassion
1 Medic
Orchid and Her Partner

I went with many small units to provide me with many activations, allowing me greater overall flexibility, even if I had to go first.

The Skarrd player (Kurt) had
1 Grafter
1 Raze
1 Hoodoo
1 Big guy with axe
2 Chitins
1 Saber
1 Skin job with some mojo (forget the name)
I dont remember what else.

He had to construct an outpost, and I had to kill 50% of his force.

He ran forward to his objective, advance deploying his Chitins to get a head start. Sabor came up to protect the objective area with a smoke cloud.

My Pistoliers Orchid and her partner, succeed in shooting themselves almost to death the first round, but the Firestorms with the help of Sister of Compansion and Medic are able to avoid killing themselves long enough to keep the objective clear of Skarrd (Chitins & Sabor).

St Ann and Clergy Anns went forward and engaged the enemy, able to strike down the big boys, yet get away before the Raze detonated, hurting Orchid and her companion.

The cleargy Anns held against Hoodoo and the other big guy, allowing St Mary to come in and bring them down also.

Win for St. Mary.

The second round I faced Glenn's Ice Caste list from the previous day.

My forces ran forward to dismantle an Outpost, succeeding to do this by the end of the 3rd turn.

His force came forward to kill St Mary.

My troops were able to carve into his lines, leaving only his Spirit lord alive at the end, but surrounded by my foot troopers.
St Mary didn't even have to wade into the battle,

A Win for the Foresaken.

Given the distance that we all travelled, I would like to thank all the people that made the trip to LV for the Player's appreciation tournaments and BJ and Dark age for hosting the tournaments!!

For any one who wants to see the full painting score award set here you go.

The square based stuff on the corners are my deployment zone markers. At the top of that pole was a Skarrd logo flag.

Pretty impressive! (Though you may want to re-write your sign to say "they're").

Can't help it if Curwin can't spell. Must be all that toxic vapor. LOL

nice dodge. but if you are going for the whole "can't spell" routine, then misspell a few more words and write some letters backwards..

I would have gunslinger but the excuse came to me after it was originally pointed out that Jamie can't spell either. LOL. So I figured it must be Curwins fault. :)

Curwen, it's Curwen.

...so I guess we know who the real culprit is.

Note; at least two staffers always spell it with an 'i' too, so you're not alone.
