After realizing how completely out of touch I am with current movies, I decided to look up some trailers. I was pleasantly surprised by this, and I figure you guys might be interested too:

holy crap. that started out very generic infection flick. thought it could be another zombie movie (which i never protest to...i loves me some zombie movies). then it just got savage!! oh man that looks awsome.
Nice find :D
OMFG! I heard the line..."a Dark Age dawns..." woohoo! This looks awesome! Those people inside the hot zone have Skarrd written all over them!!!! This is a must see!

Really similiar to our storyline IMO
People got sick, got kicked out, "normal" people left inside a safe zone, have to go out to look for stuff... sound familiar? LOL

I thought the 'Dark Age dawns' would ring well here. I was also expecting some sort of zombie movie, but then it turned into Mad Max x10. If they screw this one up then I'll be pissed.

I was thinking there was a bit of "Escape from New York" in there too. :)
Great find. On the top of my list this spring.

Holy Crap it is St. Mary versus Father Curwin!!!! This is a definite must see!!
Saw it today, not a great movie, but not a bad movie either. Nice action movie and the plot follows ours quite closely, well except their still on Earth.... At any rate worth going to see, get pumped up and then go play Dark Age!!!!

i just peaked this flick tonight. BJ is spot on with his analysis. this movie is not as epic as i would have hoped it would've been, but as long as you take off your thinking caps you're in for a ride. the action is awsome, and the post apocalyptic feel is excellent. There was enough blood splatter and heads on pikes (along with an exploding rabbit) to allow me to ignore some plot holes or poor writing. My main criticism is an overuse of music, especially during scenes that we really needed to listen to. British accents aside, it was difficult to hear that plot revelation with phat electronica beats going on in the backround.
however, when you present me with a band of plague immune british punk skaard lead by a psychotic, drunk, post apocalyptic iggy pop....you have won me over.
let it be known the first thing i will try to do when the apocalypse hit is ammass a band of crqaazy followers and become a cannibalistic rock star. YEAH!

Ditto....this movie wont win no Oscar...but it might just beat Oscar into a bloody pulp and feast on his flesh.
The film was by the same director who made "Descent", so I had higher hopes, but I still had a good time watching it as long as I took it for what it was. Lots of plot holes, bad writing, and a totally inappropriate music score...but on the other hand it had a hottie actress who did a respectable "Mila Jojovich", tons of bloody gore, more action than you can shake a pointy stick at, insane British punk cannibals who are a cross between Road Warrior and Skaard, car chase scenes and vehicular fighting that could come right out of Gorkamorka.
It was fun.

Well, that's all I was looking for, so I guess I'll have to go see it. Unfortunately, I just saw 10,000 BC instead, which is an absolutely terrible so-bad-it's-funny movie. I was terrified to discover it had the number 1 spot at the box office. So people please, see Doomsday and whach cannibals and car chases instead of a bunch of cavemen and african tribesmen try and play Spartans and FAIL!

TIC TIC NOOOOOOOOOO
What was funny about the music is that you'd have expected Sex Pistols and other classic punk songs being played...the car chase scene song? a Two Tribes cover, LOL!

i completely agree BJ! the music as a whole was just off, a very weak part of the movie.

I liked the music. It suited the eclectic feel of the movie. And Rhona Mitra has moved to the top of the hotties list. And she didn't seem off acting like the tough chick. Saul's main squeeze was very cool looking too. Very Skarrd. I really enjoyed this.
I also watched Sunshine afterwards which was awesome.

Somehow, this is the first I've heard of this thread... I think I might treat myself to a new DVD and relax to watch some head smashing goodness. Oh wait!? I can't I have to pack and move and prep my classroom and meet the faculty and write up lesson plans for a year. :o YEAH, that's all way better than watching a mediocre action flick.

For those who don't know. The last few lines of the above text were sarcasim.

...aww...it doesn't appear to be out till the first of September in the Uk what kind of bullshit is that when it's a British movie?
On the up side I should have money to buy it by then. :)
However I was cheered up when I read this in a review of the DVD:
"Still, despite its few shortcomings, Doomsday is a fast-paced, in-your-face, adrenaline rush of punk-rock and horror-shock! In this world of cookie-cutter PG-13, teeny-bopper aimed bullshit, it's a breath of fresh air."

Right up there with another cult favorite of mine Equilibrium.

I just received an email offer to buy this on DVD or Blu-Ray. I think I'll have to check it out.
Yes yes you will...it's awesome...and not just because of my avatar...though she helps. :D

yeah I'm all kinds of upset for you :P :D
You get Doctor Who months ahead of us and you get extras that we can't get until the latest series is released on DVD.
Doomsday was a good film, see my above posts when it first came out.....
I'll give you Dr Who and Torchwood...Extras...aint bad...but I personally wouldn't mind seeing Ricky Gervais going to the gas chamber.
Patrick Stewart totaly outclassed him in that one episode.
