KUKULKANI – LIVING ANCESTOR –*PAINTED BY DAVE TAYLOR

Although they were once instantly recognizable as humans, the Kukulkani have been evolved over the millennia of their service to Kukulkan. Even*the lowliest of servants is technomantically augmented in some way, and death in the service of the great Coatl is not always as final as it might seem.

Dave*recently painted up this Living Ancestor model, and wanted to focus on the apparently shifting nature of the substances many Kukulkani are imbued with. To that end, he*wanted to see the gold of the model’s*hands blend into the blue of his arms and so on. We*hope you like the results shown here.

Throughout this article we’ll refer to various paint colors from both the Vallejo and Army Painter ranges. These are typically available from your FLGS, or through our webstore. You’ll be able to recognize these by the prefix we use: VMC – Vallejo Model Color, VGC – Vallejo Game Color, VMA – Vallejo Model Air, AP – Army Painter.

So that the blue could appear bright, Dave*primed the model black first, and then sprayed it from a 30˚ angle with white.

All that remained was to paint the skulls and eyes with a bright green look, and then paint up the base (in this case it is a Derelict base from the CMON/Micro Arts Studios basing sets – click HERE (https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/bases-2/cool-mini-or-not-base-system/derelict-large-base-set.html)). After it was painted grey and highlighted, Dave*gave it a pretty heavy dusting of watering powders to simulate the dusty sands of Samaria.
