Outcast Errata Update (7.15.2016)

Players!

We are entering into the mid-year for Dark Age, and with it we have a few Updates for you guys!

First up are some changes for the Outcasts, specifically the Salt Flat Nomads. We’ve scoured over our tourney reports and player feedback from the last year, and based on our collected data we’ve had to make a few changes to the following models:

It is unfortunate when we have to reduce a unit’s power, but for the overall state of game health, it has to be done time to time. Likewise, if a unit is seen grossly under-performing, changes must likewise be made to bring it up to caliber with other units in the game. 

IDEO + VOX

  • Base Size Changed to 40mm
  • Size changed to Medium (from Large)
  • HP reduced to 1 (from 2)

Over the last year, Lynette and her two pups have been a force to be reckoned with whenever they saw the tabletop. This was in no small part due to their 125pt total giving a staggering 6 HP worth of models on the field. Quite a deal considering that, on average, most 150pt models only have 3 HP. We acknowledge that Lynette and her hounds are a bit more fragile than some of those models, but her benefits greatly outweighed her drawbacks. As such, we’ve reduced the HP of both Ideo and Vox to 1- They will keep her alive, and still have their ferocity, but no longer have the staying power of a 75+pt model. 

In addition, their Size, as well as Base Size, has been reduced, as a popular trick was to hide Lynette behind one or both of them, completely obscuring her from harm. The changes now put the stats more in-scale with their stats, as well as removing some, while clever, unintentional power from the unit.

MOLOKI

  • HP reduced to 2 (from 3)
  • Snapjaw PW reduced to 6 (from 8)
  • AR reduced to 14 (from 16)
  • Tail Sweep RF changed to 1 (from Unlimited)
  • Frenzied added to front of card (was missing-was still listed on back)

Alright, so the Moloki is receiving its fair share of nerfs. Frankly, this was one of those units where the drawbacks in no-way met the raw power the unit had. For 75pts you got a 3HP model, PW: 8 (Extreme Damage) and an infinite use Arc attack. The drawback was its meager PS: 6 and Frenzied- the issue being the model’s sheer speed allowed it to be shoved up into the enemy before Frenzied ever became an issue, and once there it was an absolute nightmare for your opponent to deal with due to Reaction Strike and a hefty AR: 16.

The unit needed substantial toning down, so that’s what we’ve done. It’s now been reduced to 2HP, bringing it in line with most every other 75pt. model in the game, the PW of Snapjaw has been reduced to compensate for both Extreme Damage and Furious Charge, and it’s AR has been reduced to 14, meaning you’ll now have to make a choice between its survivability/mobility (via Burrow) and its offensive power. Lastly, the threat of an unlimited use (potentially PW: 8) Arc attack was just the cherry on top of this powerhouse, so its been reduced to RF: 1, bringing it in line with most other Arc Attacks in the game.

THESE CHANGES ARE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY FOR ALL DARK AGE EVENTS AND TOURNAMENTS.

BOTH THE OFFICIAL FACTION ERRATA, AND THE ONLINE CARDS, HAVE BEEN ALTERED TO REFLECT THESE CHANGES.
