Yep, exactly. I am dreading the day that I have to face Punky's all slave army. It is going to be a hard battle. Imagine 50 slaves for a 500 point Dragyri Force. 50! That's a lot of slaves to kill!!!

Yea but due to the odds of malfunction at least a few of those slaves should kill themselves with exploding shards. Thats always one of the high points in gaming with MrSota.

    Ok

You assume correct; there is no such reverse limitation. You can definitely build an all-Slave army if you wish.

I'm no fan of the slaves at all and was really disappointed to learn of this rule. I feel it really limits Dragyri army selection... particularly considering that there are only a handful of Dragyri models with low field allowances to choose from anyway.

Well, I like the slaves meanwhile. I had my troubles in the beginning as well, but since their rules changed and they became better, I actually like them. Always try to charge as many opponents with one slave model. Shard shatte even turns the malfunctions to your advantage.

In what way do you feel the slaves became better. I'ev yet to read the force list or any pertinent rules changes.

the slaves have gone through about 5 different iterations of changes.. depending on where you jumped on the bus isabee will determine how you perceive them..

they used to just be amob used to soak up damage.. now they are an intregal part of the trueborn that is chosen. theyare specialized and taken in order to cull the enemy to find the ones worthy of the trueborns attacks..

i think that you might just be upset that you now have to buy some.. and that is ok to think, but it will be the only way to take the trueborn. we have decided through playtesting and conversation that and all trueborn army with no slaves just doesn't even fit the fluff (storyline) of the dragyri..

i hope that at least gives you a perspective why it was done.. I am not, however, asking you or telling you to like it.. just giving you the inside story as it were.

I don't think that it should have been done if it was only for fluff purposes, nor to force expenditure. If it was a genuine balance issue, then its legitimate, but I can't actually see that. I can see where some people are coming from,I think the issue is that they have to be bought in order to field anything trueborne, its mandatory, so thats actually reliant on people liking both sets of minis. Balancewise If people fielded Trueborn alone, they'd save a hell of a lot of money over most other factions, save perhaps Brood and they'd possibly get an advantage in automatic kills, however, they could be swamped and given a percentage effectiveness, fielding an army of 5 against 20, you'll be boned once you lose one.
I have had many arguments with a certain person about this, at the end of the day, if you like the slaves and running herd armies, you'll be fine. If you don't, theres always the other factions.
