Movie Review (V. Short): Green Street

Played this DVD with mixed feelings............ a movie about English Hooligans ain't exactly a promising story, and the fact that they have based it on my team's hooligans set the mood even lower.

    But wait.........

Its not such a bad movie!!!

My missus used the word "enthralling" to describe it, and I must admit that I didn't want to pause it to go and make a cuppa

The story ain't so deep, with Frodo Baggins getting kicked out of Harvard, coming over the pond to London, meeting up with some Hooligans, lotsa violence, realisation of whats important in life and buggering it back to the USA.

Despite the shallowness of the story, it is actually quite an interesting film, bringing back some unsavoury memories of trips back from the Boleyn Ground on a Saturday evening, remembering the old headlines years back.

Overall, worth watching, maybe not more than once, but is good so that we don't forget about this and don't let it get out of hand again. The Director mentions that one aim of the film is to expose more Americans to Football (note the name and spelling boyz............. no such fing as Soccer awite!!!).

    Rating: 4/5

Of course the other good thing about the film as it looked awful - FRODO YOU CAN NOT BE TOUGH - YOU HAVE HAIRY FEET. Sorry about that.... is that the soundtrack is by Kasabian who rock!!! (imagine fat guy with a mullet) also a somewhat geeky fact for you but the cover of the kasabian album is the same symbol as used by hooligans who support Lazio (play in Italy).
Any way hear their next album is an ode to Millwall.

LOL, ain't you got hairy feet mate??? Most blokes have hairy feet (though not quite as extensive as Frodo!!).

But, yeah.... when I read an article in a Footie magazine about this upcoming movie, I thought "Frodo..... football hooligan...... NAH!!!!", but it does kinda work... he has that non-violent look and demeanour that the character is supposed to have at the beginning of the film. The fact that he punches like a fairy stops him from being a very good casting choice, but he was OK.

    Millwall.
I shall refrain from expressing my feelings for this particular team on a public forum................

well my feet are hairy but then i not a football hooligan - now there is a study "Do all convincing football hooligans have bald feet.

I think is that the fewer people thtat mention millwall probably the better - and anyway your boys are riding high at the moment. Punching a little above your weight I think you will be near the bottom but hopefully not in it by the end of the season would be nice to see a couple of the rubbish old guard go down, e.g Fulham, birmingham and everton

    LOL

I honestly think that my boyz will finish mid-table, as long as we don't get too many injuries. Another major factor will be if Pardew manages to get Benni McCarthy in the Jan window. That guy could make all the difference, and then we wouldn't have to play 'Donkey' Harewood

True but the key for all new boys to survive is to keep injury free as your squads will be small - as to your striker if you can keep old man sheringham fit and striker can score
