    My Magic Dip Formula

I have tried several versions of the magic dip, including using walnut wood stain (stinks, must do outside) The best one is as follows:

    You will need:

    Water
    Future Floor Finish
    GW Flesh Wash Chestnut Ink
a resealable plastic container you don't mind ruining.
(I used the plastic container some take-out chinese won-ton soup came in)

I poured all of the GW Flesh Wash into the container and then using the empty GW bottle to measure added two parts water and two parts future. The future breaks up the surface tension allowing the ink to really get in the nooks and crannies. All Future and no water really makes the figure glossy and slick. All water and you will not get good coverage.

Have you tried it with flow improver instead of FFF? I'm not a fan of Future's Glossy look on Humanoid Mini's. Interested. I bought some future to try it out, but like I said too glossy.

I believe if you spray the mini with a dull coat afterwards to seal it it negates the shine.

dullcote does kill the shine.. and a flow medium will reduce the shine in place of Futre floor wax.. problem is Future floor wax is about 6 dollars for 28 oz or so.. and flow medium is like 10 dollars for 10-12 oz.. the wax is much cheaper.. but the flow aids will work..

I knew they would, I was just hoping he had tried this and had some ratios.

DrRazr, I did not try the dip with flow improver because the brand that is readily available, Americana Brush & Blend Extender, is some rather murky stuff.

I use Liquitex brand. It works really well, just a little confusing when mixing the flow/water first then again mixing the ink, flow/water, and water. I've invested in some syringes to get a more detailed mix of my components. They are pretty cheap at the Pharmacy, Like less than $3 a piece. Maybe I'll look into a larger mix for this dip thing. Might make painting a little easier in areas.

liquitex is the brand redily available at michaels arts and crafts stores.. i use it as well.. i normally go 10 parts water to 1 part Future Floor Wax, or 7 parts water to 1 part Future Floor Wax

with the liquitex flow medium i use the thin variety, so i only need to go 2 parts water 1 part liquitex.. or 3 parts water 1 part liquitex.. to get the same consistancy

I have the thick kind I have to mix 20 to 1 for the flow. Thats not the main question though. I was wondering if the flow has better Surface Tension breakers than the FFW and if thats the case less pre-mixed flow would be needed in that mix. Thats why I said first mix the flow then mix the Pre-Mix in with ink and more water confuses me about the flows effect at further delution.

The 20 to 1 ratio stinks, but man, does that one bottle last. heh.

Or are you saying you mix that 2:1 with the ink? or just for general use?
