As I promised Punky, I'm gonna do a report on a few games I got in with Will, Shane, and Skylyn down at PP today.
First game: My Skarrd vs Will's St. John
My force consisted entirely of human sized models: a Father, four Buzzblades lead by a Kaustic, three Bolas, and two Toxic Mistresses. It was a pretty close game. St. John and a Banger pretty much hung out in a ruined building for cover while some Banes charged in supported by a Medic. My Buzzblades acted as a meat shield, and died pretty fast. My Kastic never really did much. On the other hand, my Toxic Mistresses massacred the Banes (cept that Medic kept 'em alive). St. John ended up taking two wounds, once when a Toxic Mistress gassed him and his shield overloaded (he should have also taken a Str 6x2 hit, which I think we may have forgotten) and then again in the back from a Father. There was also some beef over whether or not a spin in a combat provokes an attack (or in other words, counts as movement), which I thought was errata-ed but it seems I was wrong (doh!). I ended up loosing after the Father took a beat down from a Banger of all things in close combat (we didn't apply the RF 2 for this battle). The Bolas didn't accomplish much other than taking down a Bane and entangling another. Close, but still a solid loss for me.
Second Battle: My Skarrd vs Shane's Dragyri
I subbed out a Buzzblade and two Bolas for a Raze in this battle. I have to say, there were some genuinely painful moments in this battle. The Toxic Mistresses were very fun to watch. While trying to gas some slaves, one malfunctioned and sprayed two Trueborns instead. Only one took a wound, and the Toxic Mistress died. The other passed the panic test though and wiped out about eight slaves with a stream (that Pw 4x3 is overkill in them). Raze kept getting Mals on slaves, but didn't quite die (for one I forgot to apply his Tough as Nails to the Chain Halberd, so he had an extra wound). He did knock over a Trueborn though, which was fun. The Father pretty much danced around killing slaves and finishing off Trueborns and failing to cast any spells except on slaves. The Buzzblades managed to gangbang a Soul Searcher, with the Kaustic delivering one or two wounds for once. They were everntually slaughtered though. The game ended with the Father and a severely wounded Raze hunting down some wayward slaves who panicked and ran. The Father was pretty much unhurt, so a pretty solid victory for me. In Shane's favor though, his rolls were less than favorable.
Battle Three: My Skarrd (again) vs Skylyr's (sp?) Forsaken
I'm very happy about this match because I got my revenge on Nathaniel and Orchid. Same list as last time versus N&O along with some Banes and Coils. The Coils hid and pelted my Buzzblades and Raze with Death Disks, which did surprisingly little. The Banes got Gassed and died with some of the worst armor saves I've seen in years (sorry Skylyr, better luck next time). Orichid moved up early on and inflicted a wound on the Father, but when Nathaniel attempted the same he shot and wounded himself. My remaining Buzzblade and Kaustic reached the Coils and almost died, but the Kaustic managed to take out two (I think he died after that though). The game pretty much ended after Nathaniel died from a Toxic Mistress gassing and Orchid went crazy into my Raze, which promptly cut her in half. She almost killed it, but not quite. The Father did very little (I think, he might have actually been the one to finish off Orchid). Pretty fun, but not much of a challenge due to Skylyr's truly atrocious rolls.
Last Game: Free for all between my Skarrd, Shane's Dragyri, and Skylyr's St. Mark (no N&O this time)
Normally I hate three way battles, but this one worked out quite well. Everything really boiled down to a big crunch in front of St. Mark's corner (Shane and I deployed in opposite corners, with him in th middle). Shane pretended to split up his force, but left the slaves at the mercy of my Toxic Mistresses (who this time wiped the squad out in a cloud of gas) and sent his two Death's device and Frostbites toward St. Mark. I tried to remain neutral, but eventually charged my Warhead (traded for my Raze) into the Mark troops after St. Mark wounded him with his lovely God's Wrath. The Warhead was very impressive despit some bad miffed attacks. He killed two Banes with an arc attack and dealt two wounds of damage to St. Mark with his Extreme Damage attack, which also knocked Mark prone. The Warhead was then charged in the back and killed by two Death's Device. Those Str 14x2 damage attacks are nasty, especially with KP(16) and Extreme Damage 2. Shane unfortunately had to leave after that, so the Death's Device decided they had better things to do and vanished. St. Mark was eventually taken down by a heavily wounded Father with one of his friendly Coils malfunctioning and dying and the others getting gassed by the Toxic Mistresses. A sorta victory for me. Might have worked out differently if those Death's Device hadn't disapeared.
In any case though, it was a ton of fun. Lots of good old malfunctioning, overkill, and slaves getting blown up, gassed, and headbutted by Raze (). We did find the Toxic Mistresses to be a little too worth their points though, because even at a lowly Strength of four that power multiplier of three wreaks havoc. I'd say lower the Str, but keep the power multiplier (cause it makes sense for toxic gas). My only disapointments this time were not getting to see either the Toxic Mistress or Raze explode. Better luck next time I guess.
P.S.: many inside jokes were made as well, I'm still chuckling over liquid bread and a Warhead in a bunny costume.
