I believe that was me giving a demo to someone or one of my many ringer appearances in the tournies.

    True, nothing in this game

Actually it suits their style and their fluff exactly, "who cares about those nifty slaves when war is a matter of honour alone?"

It is hard to explain, but the swing in this game is like nothing else that I have ever seen. The alternate activation makes the outcome unpredictatble. Hate to use this word, but you just gotta have faith. The strength of this game still lies in hand to hand, you will have to suffer some losses to get there. Yes you will lose slaves or buzzblades or whatever fodder you have, but once your Death's Device or Warhead gets there OMG... we never said Dark Age is an easy game to master, it is just easy to learn

    Mastering

Actually, your easiest games often have the highest level of mastery. Take backgammon. The quote is "A minute to learn, a lifetime to master" With DA it's based about 60 percent on stategy/tactics, 20 percent on abilities and about 20% luck of dice. In my case the dice are about 40 percent against me.

Well said... and with Dark Age, there is an answer to every threat, you just have to know your troops' strength and weaknesses and pit the right resource against the right threat. For example, using all of Banger's AP to shoot at an ice elemental might be a big waste of time, but if you shoot at a squad of slaves with him, the result can be devastating. It is a fun game, and I still learn more everytime I play...

And the most interesting part is that it will continue to evolve. What works as a grand strategy today might be countered in another upcoming release. My greatest hope though is that all you fine DA writers will be able to avoid the pitfall of ever more powerful units being the way to counter a strategy.

I understand the use of power creep in many games in order to sell new products and *cough "balance" *cough their game. This is not our intention. We will scale up the game at some point a bit so that you can play 750-1000 pv games, but we are very serious about playtesing. If anything ever slips by, it just means that whoever found it is smarter than all of us

My big hope is to avoid "Codex Creep" and stuff like that...I do worry about older models and armies running into unplayability due to the new stuff that comes out.

I am not worried about it yet...but it is always a concern to me

I too hate creep. It's why I don't play some games anymore. I like the idea of the books having armies, and not add ons. It's the add ons that normally take the power up.
