    Severe AS Penalties

Just wondering what happens if an attack group is suffering such large AS penalties that it the AS becomes 0 or less, can you actually still make the attack? Does it automatically miss? Can you even try? Or would you just use the targets defence as a base and roll that?

An example would be the Abominations pod cannons shooting from over 30cm away (so a -3) coupled with say some partial cover to bring it down to a -5 AS penalty. The cannons only have AS 4, so does the attack miss, can't even be attempted, use just the enemies defence (eg 5), or use it with a -1(seeing as the final AS stat is -1 with all penalties) for a 4 or less to hit?

Sorry if thats a little long winded but my love for the Abomination demands that I find out or I'll get assault fisted

    Thanks

I think this gets addressed in Essence, I remember it got errataed in another thread. The AS cannot go below 1, if I remember correctly, or maybe it was 0. We'll know once the book comes out.

It was addressed in this http://www.dark-age.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2991 post and it will not drop below 0.

Remember the AS is not modified. Add your AS and the target's DF together, then add any modifiers. This gives you your TN for the Attack. Stats may not fall below '0' but it is possible for TN's to fall below '0', as in the case of Overkill p. 37, Genesis. It is still permissable to make an attack or armor check with a negative TN, you have to roll a "1" to succeed. Attacks may not be made when their PW drops to '0'.

Just to further clarify the +1 AS and +1 PW modifiers listed are TN modifiers, they are listed as AS and PW to help the player know what to modifiy.
