    Blades of the Forsaken

In addition to my proposed Forsaken-7 warband (which will contain all independent characters: Contradiction, Blades, X-Cess, Warwind, Bounty Hunter, Weaponsmith and Sister of Compassion [499 points]), I was also thinking of how visually cool it might be to match Blades up with some Strikes and possibly X,Cess for an all sword-wielding fun-fest!

    So you'd have:

    Blades (75)
    Strike Leader (75)
    Strikes x 4 (280)
    X'Cess (70)
    =========
    500 pts.

Obviously they'll have to hug some cover, but I can't get the slick visual of these blade-wielding badasses out of my head. Plus, little or no Malf. stuff to worry about.

No Mal whatsoever. Also as well as being super nasty in CA you would have some short range options, X-Cess and Blades can both throw knives over a short-ish range. Hug cover, try not to get swarmed, watch out for nasty template weapons and maybe look for some trueborn for an honourable battle!
Sounds like a fairly decent army, let us know how it goes.

Thanks! I'll share pics and report when I get them painted and fielded.

I am still awaiting the models at this time.

    Ie-yuk! That will hit like a brick-skathouse!

All glory to strikes. You will definately have the punch. Keep to cover as much as possible to use that great Def (all but one model is DF2 or better).

Be very careful of Templates. You are walking in with a bit of an eggshell, and no real way to the ranged attackers other than to suck it up and walk through the fire.

If your opponent does a shooting-withdrawl (shoot, then backup) each turn you will be in a rough spot against any AOE Sqauds (toxics, Firestorms, Ravage, Grist, Plight)

I won't suggest changing your theme, because you have a really good strong theme. Just watch out.

great army, if you are going against other melee heavy armies. like Gayln said, be careful of the shoot and retreat tactics.. this could put a damper in your day..

this is pretty similar to my "gunslinger" army.. except I am going with an old west motiff, so six shooters and bowie knives all around.

Thanks for the great advice! Since my current Forsaken force is so shooty, I definitely wanted to do a force that was diametically opposed to them, and I really dig Blades and the Strikes.

Cover and good use of it will be essential, I know. I just can't wait to start painting them. Got two Strikes on the table right now. Blades and the rest coming from the Warstore.

A grat shoot and withdraw troop - Bolas! I once saw a squad of 4 bolas keep a squad of 4 strikes tied of for 5 turns of an 8 turn game. I think they inflicted like 3 wounds and were evetually and enevitably torn to shreds but they did completey neutralize the strikes.

I may have to put my Bolas to use more often! I tend to be a Golab fan.
