Can I make adecent Brood list with this?

I recently purchased a bunch of Brood and mainly stuck to my favourite models (and was very limited by stock). Initially I've bought:

    - Scion
    - 2 Lashers
    - Howler
    - 2 Hounds
    - Gazelle
    - 3 Broodlings
    - 6 Puds (which will probably be made into a swarm)

I'm aware I'm in need of more broodlingsbut have to wait until some become available in UK again, I can always proxy more (with spare puds not used for the swarm) in the mean time.

The 500 pt lists I could make to start out with are:

    - 3 Lashers (proxy scion as the 3rd) : 225
    - Howler: 150
    - 6 Broodlings: 120

    or

    - Scion: 120
    - 2 Lashers: 150
    - 2 Hounds: 100
    - Gazelle: 90
    - 3 Broodlings: 60

This list's lack of a heavy hitter makes me nervous, but all those power multipliers may mitigate it somewhat.

Any of you more experienced Brood players have any advice on the matter? I've got $60 in paypal awaiting the book but I'm quite tempted to pick up some sawblades, Helexa and a mandible instead.

Your last list is best. Brood do not suffer from being reduced to one unit in a squad. Abuse that, the brood mere says so.

Now that I have a bit more time for this

Saw blades are Nasty, but not invincible. They are a unit that needs support because they can and do get dropped by your enemy before they get there. lashers and scion are a great way to get them there. Same size, elusive, already have a low def stat. Broodlings are gold against certain opponents and a liability against others. Anyone with arc attacks, anyone with templates, any one with and attack group that has 4+ attacks. These are the guys you avoid like the plague. Other than that they will tear apart even tough units simply because of gang up, and regen makes them annoying to no end. I personally love pud throwers because i get to launch support units down range at the targets my broodlings are rushing for. mandible is a god.....but he is just a more defined sawblade in his role, and he is pricey. Great unit but i dont often take him since the lashers.

I've got some Sawblades on the way, as well as Helexa, more hounds and some Ratchets. I think I'll be ordering Mandible soon as his stats are pretty incredible. 115pts isn't so much for him I reckon!

Was going to use brood the other night but the water effect I've used is taking AGES to dry. The week after next though (assuming it's dry by then) I hope to take them for their initial run.
