    Quick start minor confusion still....

Using the PDF quickstart, I have some questions lingering about a couple of issues. If they are addressed in the rules, I'd love any page references so I can see for myself where they were covered, otherwise a basic answer'll do!

    1. Force construction: any limitations of cross sub-faction building (cults, caste, etc): Can Ice, Air, generic or Blood, Toxic, basic, etc, work together?

    2. Psychogenetics and other foci abilities are pretty abstract in the language presented (the Casting rules reference "physical attacks follow normal Combat rules but Example 2 references a psychogenetic "Provoke Ridicule" that very much does not seem "physical"....). I think I've got it all worked out, but would love a run-through for clarification.

scenario 1: my Father Curwin has PS 18, casting Unclean's Stigma (tn PS (4)) at a Dragyri Whisper (Df 3, PS 1 that's 3.5" away. What is my TN, and how might the Whisper resist it.

Scenario 2: My Tribal Father with PS 18 is casting Rooted Fear with TN: PS ( against the same Whisper at 6" away.

Those issues will get us more up to speed and hit the ground running.

The factions do not cross, but the sub-factions do. You have four primary factions, with the sub factions representing specific armies within the blanket faction. generic lists represent common troops that caste/cult/saint-specific army share. So if you're building a St. Mark list, you would look to his list for his personal rules and the rules for his saint-specific units, then use the generic forsaken lists for your other troops. Thusly, if you want, you could build a "generic" forsaken army of staple troops then swap out saints and their units and easily(and affordably) play all forsaken armies. Johann is the only one who doesn't work quite as simply as that(he has a unique list with skarrd units, but you still use generic forsaken as I explained)

    Your factions include:

    Dragyri
    -generic
    -ice
    -air

    Forsaken
    -generic
    -mark
    -mary
    -luke
    -john
    -Johann

    Skarrd
    -generic
    -blood
    -toxic

I forgot to add a few more

    Outcasts a new faction w/o any sub-factions

and then you have the bounty hunters, these unaligned warriors for hire can be used by forsaken or outcast warbands

Moved to rules and rulings sub forum. Will address The Psychogenics attacks shortly. Spawno was almost entirely coreect.

Johann is his own force he is neither Skarrd nor Forsaken. This is his exiles from the Battle of Salvation before he met the Baniss.

this is true, Johann is indeed his own special list w/ skarrd units, though he operates quasi-similar to forsaken in that he has access to elements of the generic forsaken list

    d'oh!

PSychogenics and casting that do no have a physical effect go directly of the TN to cast the foci/psychogenic. i.e. if it say PS, then it is the PS of the Caster, if it says PS(4) the it will be the caster's PS-4. Most Foci or psychogenics will say what the target needs to do to avoid the affect. PS(4) would indicate that the target needs to make a PS check at -4.

For castings that have a physical attack treat it just like a RA, AoE's are the exception on this though, they attack a PoI of 3.

    Hope this helps.
