    1000 Point Saint John List

So here is what I am thinking of running. The basic concept is having some range to harass and keep at bay as the slower CC move in for finishing.

    Saint John - 135
    Fathful (3x70) - 210
    Medic - 55
    Warwind- 95
    Lucky- 90
    Death Strike- 100
    Bane Leader - 45
    Bane (4x40)- 160

    Total-890

I have 110 points left to fiddle with but not to sure where to invest, Banes are cannon fodder/soak damage that's why I have 5. Faithful are the knock out punch with Lucky, Deathstrike, and Warwind using there Range attacks to harass and have good CC if the need arises, I like running Bounty Hunters in my list the rules for them are a good help to kite opponents away from models.

So what should I add? I'm looking at more Range for some harassing. Is Hansile (SP) good or go with coils...Ideas are welcome.

Well you have a few options on what to add...

Firestorm + Leader (95) wouldn't be a bad idea, as it gives you some Cauterize effects aside from John to help against pesky Regeneration units, and it also gives you some template weapons to help against any hordes that might bog down your main force.

Cesspool (70) + Bane (40) would give you another Bounty Hunter, and personally my favorite one at that. His "Rot" gun is great for lowering AR to better let those Banes and Faithful deal some real damage. Of course, with him the only other option in the range is another Bane (without changing anything else currently in the list, of course), but six Banes are a scary squad to come up against, especially when Cesspool is lowering the AR values of units.

-1 Bane (+40) + 3 Coils with Leader (140) gives you added range benefit in the form of the Coil unit. Honestly this set up may be my favorite suggestion due in part to Death Disks being one of the deadliest weapons in the game, combined with the fact it would still leave you with four Banes, who now have covering fire as they advance.

-1 Bane (+40), -1 Medic (+55) +2 Haniel (130) +1 Sister of Compassion (60) is a bigger change to the army, but gives you the combined value of the Coils and the Firestorms as the Haniel have both a 6x2 range gun as well as the 2x2 flechette template. The only issue is to make it a viable force (no less than 15 points below minimal) we have to change out the Medic for a Sister of Compassion, which in all honesty isn't the worst idea since most of your army is a front-line force and the Medic is a very squishy target. At least with this set-up the Sister can sit behind the ranges shooting your front-line troops with her healing effects from eight inches away.

Just some various food for thought!

    Thank you for your input,

The first three seem to be a really good fit to my list and play style. I am still very new to the game as is most of the players at my store. But we have a huge influx in playing I think 11+ and counting new players. So I believe I will run all your suggestions and see what turns out best.

Also After a few games today, I was thinking about either dropping Lucky or replacing her with one of the twins BH (there names elude me at the moment)

Also What about dropping Deathstrike, and getting the Firestorm+Leader and adding Cesspool and bane?

With so many options I feel like a kid in a candy store!!
Do to me being new I have a few questions to better understand your advise.

    1. Cauterize, How exactly does this help against regeneration? I believe I may be mis-intererpting that rule.

    2. How is the death disk one of the deadliest weapons? As I have used Coils before and the Disk did not help me too much.

I forgot, in my last post When I run St. John I use the power Gen on his Shield 100% of the time. Would you recommend the Maul instead? With this list having a good amount of CC ability I felt that the shield was a better option.

    1. Wounds caused by Cauterizing weapons cannot be Regenerated.

    2. Death Disk is a 6x2 weapon, 12 inch range. It combines the deadliness of a 6x2 hit with one of the best range values in the game. (In case there is any discretion, 6x2 would mean the target must pass two armor saves at a -6 to avoid taking a wound).

The Shield will keep John alive, for myself it will see the most use unless I come across something big and nasty that can punch through his AR even with the shield benefits.

Personally I'd go with the coils or firestorms.
