    question on movement

so this paragraph is a little confusing to some of the players in my area

    Movement
Units may spend AP to move on the Battlefield. For every AP spent on
Movement, the Unit may move in any direction up to their MV statistic
as measured in inches (in). Moving Units may turn freely as long as the
total linear Movement does not exceed their MV. The Unit does not have
to use its entire MV statistic in a given action, but any remaining unused
distance is wasted. Spending an AP on Movement that brings a Unit into
BtB contract with an enemy Unit is a Charge.
NOTE: Units cannot end their Movement with their base
    overlapping another Unit’s base.

the way it reads when u move u pick a direction and move in a strait line only ie.
so if you wish to turn at all you stop even if you dont use your full mv then spend another ap to move in the new direction
for example you have mv 4 and 3 ap and you you want to turn in your movement to say attack a guy behind a building
and no strait line to reach the enemy it would take 2 ap to get to him say he is 1 inch past the corner and 2 inches from the model to the corner so 3in away so 2 ap due to move 2in to the corner then another ap for the last inch to the model
the confusing part is the words linear and turn freely in the same sentance

The way you are reading it would unfortunately be incorrect.

When you move you may move in any and all directions you wish up to your MV value (assuming of course you are not Climbing or Jumping), per AP spent. In your example if the target model was two inches in front of you and two inches behind the building a single AP (with MV: 4) would reach Base-to-Base.

The Dark Age folks that wrote this were spot on with their wording. Just remind your friend that linear may mean pertaining to or represented by lines or involving measurement in one dimension only but it does not necessarily mean a "straight" line. Which is why Mr. Black pointed out the exceptions of Climbing or Jumping.

Basically it states you move in a straight line and may turn freely up to the total MV stat..

So you can move...if you MV is 4.... 2 inches make a 20 degree turn and then proceed the following 2 inches, and so on, but the movement is by AP and MV of the model. Meaning you spend the AP and then you may move up to the movement of the model.
