    mm1382's DRAGYRI!

Well, not YET, haha. I am planning on collecting Dragyri and painting them in a lava theme using the new resculpts; my girlfriend (huge Dragyri nerd) loves the older casts (the larger, taller versions of spear, shard slaves). So I'm taking the smaller, more newer sculpts and later adding some more models to the collection.

Anyhow, I am doing the bases for her models (she favors the Ice Caste), and this is what I have come up with; this is Gale Force 9 wood chips (painted high elf blue; coat d'arms and highlighted with menoth white; p3). Wondering what you guys think about this look and if it fits the theme or even looks icy to anyone. It's my first time really attempting this kind of ice on a base. Would love feedback, guys, and many thanks in advance.

Lastly, how DOES a lava theme for the Dragyri sound? Just wondering, in case it just sounds wrong to anyone, haha.

    Thanks, guys!

Those bases look great. My only criticism is they seem sort of yellow but that could just be the lighting in the pics.

Also a lava theme would be cool. Especially if they ever get around to making a fire caste
You must die! I alone am best!

They look good, I'd maybe add a wash of light turquoise.Click image for larger version.

ID:	654 The Dragyri Wail in the Dark-Age store has a nice example of an ice base.

Lava theme fits. Cheapest way to stay warm if you're a subterranean race.

    Shadow Caste?

    *looks over both shoulders nervously*

The first rule about the Shadow Caste is that there is NO Shadow Caste.

Haha, I couldn't agree with you more! The more I read about them and buy their minis, the more I get addicted to the Dragyri; they are some gorgeous miniatures!

Thanks for all the help guys, I'm totally gonna start running a Lava-themed Dragyri force.

Larger and taller versions of the slaves? Are you referring to the Guard Slave models? They are still currently available if you enjoy those!

Here is some of the older 1st Edition loot I scored, including the older Dragyri models.

Yeah, Mr. Black, she is in love with the old Spear Slaves, now known as Guard Slaves. Amazing sculpts!

I like the idea of the glazes from above... also if you use brush on varnish - keep the actual base matte and put glossy varnish on the ice... I am not sure it will work, but I have a feeling it will create that difference in texture... Or even better if you have some water effects (from woodland scenic or similar...) brush that stuff on and thick and it will be dope!

I will bring some minis with melted snow that I've done with water effects for when we game!

    /M

PS: That bag of goodies looks waaaay too tasty!
