The Brood have been evolving and genetically reincarnating for centuries, and the rapid escalation of Samarian conflicts in the last few decades has caused the most change in them to be sure. With the promise of a new Dark Age: Brood faction-focused book planned for later 2018, it was decided that we would give the age old Brood faction a rules-facelift before their full new release. There’s some new stuff to show off for you today. We’re right around a month out from the new Brood Rules Test release! This update will breathe a whole new life into the most “alive” faction of Dark Age, including some new styles of play, new special rules, and of course new tactical combinations. We know you all are chomping at the bit to get a look at what is coming out, so we thought we’d give you a little teaser to whet those appetites. In any Brood force, the Ratchets are likely to be the most numerous. Bred as a simple foil to the vast numbers of humans the Brood must face, these bio-constructs are shorter than most other Brood, yet still tower over their typical enemies. This “swamp creature” color scheme is pretty straightforward and evocative of the Brood and can be replicated across many other Brood units.

NOTE: On many of the Brood models, it can be tough to tell which parts are bio-grown chitinous plates, and which parts are grafted on metal armor. We are very happy to leave it to you to decide...
